TF_MarkTWe have always had very good England youth teams but the same thing happens all the time, 2 maybe 3 of them players will go on and play for clubs in the topflight. Some might possibley make a carear out of it but the rest will go to lower league teams.

AnonymousI still cannot believe that England never took Jack Rodwell to the World Cup for the experience. At 19 he is already a regular player with Everton and gets better with every game he plays. He was part of England,s team that finished runners up in the under 21s last year. Rodwell is the future of England,s midfield. There are several other youngsters at Everton who are getting chances in the Premiership and might go on to play for England. Adam Johnson at Man City is another who is only 20 and woould have gained from the experience of being at the World cup this year. Johnson might have even played and possibly could have been the answer to England,s left sided midfield problems which i believe cost England.

TF_dirkdigglerthe main problem lies with there being far too many foreign players in the premier league.
people want to see so called world class play on tv every week and a great national squad too and this is’nt going to happen.
that situation is’nt going to change anytime soon.
the thing that worries me about football now is the insiduous way it takes away all our youngsters due to their parents wanting the champagne lifestyle.
most weeks i drive past a football playing field on my way to work full of at least a hundred children playing football with around the same screaming parents on the sidelines waiting for little johnny to get spotted for man utd.
not for the glory but for the money.
it is’nt going to happen because non of them are good enough however by the time this is realised it’s then too late to become truly great at anything else.
in the light of this world cup shambles i truly hope some of the aformentioned parents will see the iceberg and start takng their kids to the velodrome, athletics club, swimming pool etc, etc before it’s too late.
there is an olympic games coming up in two years time and a chance of real glory for some of these children which rubbish football will toss on the scrapheap in favour of didier umbongo and his rupert murdoch buddies. -

TF_D.W.The problem lies with the BRITISH mentality. Expect too much then cry & bitch when it doesn’t happen…..
Whether a team wins or loses, if you are a TRUE fan or supporter then you stand by them regardless.
How may people took their flags etc down after Sundays game? If you did you are the ones that should be ashamed for being a “hanger-on” instead of a true fan/supporter.
Very few teams have played well this tournament, and apart from a couple of big name players, it is the underdogs & players that nobody has basically heard of that are the players being noticed.
We had a very slim chance of winning the tournament this time round which people obviously forgot about the injuries running up to & immediately preceeding the tournament, so the strongest team could not be played. The main reason we done so well in qualifying is a not very well known player that got injured & went as backroom staff instead by the name of Beckham. When he came on in qualifying he spurred the team on 9/10 times. If ferdinand had been fit, things could have been seriously different at the back, but injuries happen.
We should be backing our national teams instead of slagging them off at the first opportunity.
