Matt the matches have been getting won on that silly method floating bread. you will need anything from 100lb to 190lb to win. its all pole work down there , so no rigs rquired , just a length of line and a big hook…. you will catch on normal baits , pellet paste , meat , corn ect .. but the bread will outscore all other baits down there.

Bread is the key to the winners circle.

My lad came second at weekend with 91lb catching on dangled bread…winner was only two or three fish ahead, Josh had an hours dry spell until he twigged they spooked on the blob float he was using and took it off.

We don`t allow any floating baits in the club so you gonna have to fish proper matt lol

There’s no feeding or deliberate striking off allowed of bread.

Yikes…I bet that’s an easy one to enforce

                  “You struck that off”
                  “No I didn’t, I had a bite”
                  “yeah right”

                  etc etc etc

                    It’s a matter of using your loaf….

It soon very obvious who’s abusing the rules and simple answer is to ban bread and floating baits full stop and refuse to weigh in those that continue to be that stoopid. Any kind of breeze will cause drift and you’d be dumb to do it and let the fish go off down to someone elses swim.

Dog biscuits, expanders that dont sink, casters that float, bread etc are all baits that strain organisers/club officials, fishery owners patience coz there’s always some fool who has to push it and imho should be publicly outed at the match for being a blatant cheat.

Trouble is most matches are also fished by the organiser and he/she cannot be in two places at once to be in judgement. Better to have simple rules in big letters for even the thickest to absorb and stick to them.
