carp fishing & cocktail baits

        I recently fished a venue near me which I’ve fished several times for years without much success on standard boilies and various other baits.

        This time I approached with a cocktail method:
        Half boile
        luncheon meat
        topped with a piece of sweetcorn.

        Within the hour, with no previous baiting up, I was into the biggest fish I’ve caught from the lake, and my best session on the venue ensued.

        What are peoples opinions on the cocktail approach and does anyone have any interesting combinations to throw into the mix?

          Spam and cheese has worked well for me, try this one very good I hear

          3/4 oz sweet vermouth
          2 1/2 oz bourbon whiskey
          1 dash Angostura® bitters
          1 maraschino cherry
          1 twist orange peel

              carp are bottom feeding scavengers and will pick up all sorts as they swim around the lake. Here are a few of my favourites

              Strawberry laces

              Curried baked beans

              Skittles
