TF_JohnHI have a pair of Daiwa tournament 13 foot wagler rods, not the current model but the one before. They dont see the light of day very often but when I use them I get a distint click as I pressure the rod to cast and release line. They perform fine but the clicking is doing my head in, any suggestions?

TF_RMNDILMight be the handle with epoxy glue creaking under the cork or reel seat or even the cork itself. Could inject it with more glue or cut away and reshape with new cork (a pain).
Might be excessive epoxy resin around the foot of a guide which has eventually split/cracked and now makes a noise as it flexes. If so cut it further with a very fine blade. Easy.
Might be a ceramic centre knocking. Replace guide.
Might be the joints have worn and the male extends further inside the female and now hits the inner wall. Cut male joint back a few mm or build it back up. Easy.
Or it might just be about to explode and you need to buy a new Drennan rod. Best option !!!

TF_NathanWatsonIt’ll probably be the reel fitting, has the cork come loose round the carbon where you screw it down? If so tape the carbon up under it.

TF_JohnHNathan, I think you may be correct, I had sort of come to the conclusion the click was coming from the cork butt somewhere. I will check them out as you advise, thanks.
Thanks also for other advice I will check out everything suggested but wear is not an issue, they have only been used a maximum 10 times each as I bought them for P/Wag and then found the shakies mach 3. -

TF_GUS EAfter reading upteen posts on this site,I would say its the joint.I mean if they cant get £2500 quids worth of joints to stay together aint much chance of £200 quids worth staying put.~think

TF_NathanWatsonNot the joints! They do swell up and get too tight! It’s the reel fitting! Got Euros left from holiday, make it 20!

AnonymousI,ve had this problem in the past with one of my old rods. The problem turned out to be that the spliced tip was damaged. No idea if your rod has a spliced tip but if it does. Then there,s your likely problem.

cathalParticipantHi,
The problem could be some glue inside the blank. I had this problem with the same rod some years ago and solved it by sticking a straightened clothes hanger up the section and twisting it until the excess glue breaks off.
Cheers,
Cathal. -

TF_JohnHHad a good look over the weekend as I had a family wedding so was uable to fish. The problem was indeed the reel fitting as Nathan suggested, I suspect the screw fitting threads were the problem as a quick rub of candle wax sorted me out.
Thanks for all the tips, a short piece of candle wax is an invaluable addition to any box.
