have nfa rules now been replaced by angling trust on most matches or do we still use both?

as the NFA no longer exist and became part of the trust , i would say so.

I wouldn’t say most matches, not on commercials anyway! Most are fished to fishery rules, not Angling Trust rules!

The reason i ask is because i dont think ive fished a match or watched a match where the angling trust rules have been adhered too, probably because some of the rules dont make fishing sence see what you think if all these rules were taken to the letter then i dont think anyone would get weighed in! so maybe these rules need ammended!

              10. A competitor shall have in use one rod or pole, one line and one single hook at
one time, but may have other rods or poles and tackle assembled for use in
position behind him/her, if possible, providing that no such other tackles are
              baited.
              * This means to me that you cannot have a method baited so that you can clip it on for speed!

              16. All hooks on all waters should be Barbless (Maximum size 10)
              * I take it this means that on canals and rivers its barbless hooks only!

              18. Maximum permitted length of poles is 16 metres
              * self explanitary but fished plenty of matches where 16 plus is used

              22. Hand lineing fish is not permitted ,this includes handling elastics and line ,
also not allowed is the practice of trapping stretched elastic with the hand
down the length of poles sections. Fish should never be bullied like this.
              * i take it this means no pull kits or pull bungs not many anglers nowadays dont use these in my opinion they are safer for fish as you can fish lighter

i just think these rules need looking at!

There is just one set of NFA rules, which is now the Angling Trust.(Model match rules)
But there are variations for Nationals (Pike and Zander dont count) and variations for Ladies, Veterans and juniors.(pole length variations)
I agree they need updating again, last done around 5 years ago.
Many of the rules are altered by fishery’s or match organisers, to inc rules that suit them, like 17m rules for example.
The baited hook is also overlooked, as we often have a bait on a hair on another rod nowadays, and the mobile phone rule is only adhered to on nationals and fish o final. (i was in a fish o final when barbed hooks were allowed, and we all decided to stick to fishery rules and use barbless!)
The hand lining is for saftey reasons, as some were hand-lining the elastic or the line and risking injury, the practise of pulling a pull bung is safe, and does come under that rule.

I have the only fishery that ONLY has AT rules, and no other fishery rules!~clap
