Looking to take up carp fishing on a serious basis rather than as a backdrop to my match fishing and I was wondering what sleeping bag you guys use to keep warm. Just returned from France and I used an old Fox 2/3 season bag that I’ve had for a while and I froze! Heard good things about the Trakker Big Snooze but thought i’d check it out with the people who actually use them!

        Cheers.

James, same as everything in the carping world, it comes down to your budget!

IMO, the best bag bar none is the Nash Wideboy Forstbite bag, will keep you warm in the coldest of fishing conditions, but at (i think) £180, its quite expensive, a mid range one to look at is the Aqua Duvet set, you get a big ol bag and a fleece cover for around £100..

If your budget is a bit tighter then the Big Snooze is a decent bag but the zips have a tendency to give way easily, £30 on a fleece cover will improve any bag immensely though fella. So maybe have a look at getting one of them to go over your fox bag.??

Cheers chap. Might just wait a while and get a Nash job. In the match fishing world you tend to get what you pay for so I think at £180, it’s got to be fairly good! I’m going to start fishing for carp more often starting now so I want to be warm!

If you can find one, the warmest bag you will find is the old Nash Frostbite 5. Has a removable liner that will keep you very warm in the coldest temperatures. I won’t part with mine even though I have one of the newer Frostbite All-Seasons as well. The Frostbite All-Season is a warm bag also, but when it comes down to the really cold temps that we can get over Winter, the Frostbite 5 comes out (always in the car in winter just in case).
