TF_Waveney OneI have only had the Protak TR Design which I have found to be better than the Goretex I previously had. I can’t speak for the other designs but the TR is very good.

Awesome gear

TF_Waveney OneI have had team clothing from both the HH Goretex and Protak TR range although both sets were obtained some time ago. That means that I am in a good position to compare the 2 products.
Both are –
Hard wearing
Breathable
100% Waterproof
Look good
Feel good
Have plenty of pockets
Large zip on/off hood
Inside security pocket
and haven’t fadedThere were obvious advantages to the Protak Nisa Waveney team clothing purchase though.
The service was impeccable with Protak.
He rang to ensure that the Nisa Feeders logo was absolutely correct and then rang Nick Larkin to get a file with the artwork on.
He kept us informed as to progress until they were despatched.
The clothing arrived quickly and to order
It was at a far better price than HH.Now I don’t mind paying a reasonable price for quality out door clothing. When you fish 3 days a week or more all year in this country buying cheap gear is false economy. Protak isn’t cheap but it isn’t overpriced only.
HH were terribly late in delivery. We were always on the phone chasing them up. It was also expensive and finally arrived the week before the National we were fishing. We had been promised it weeks before that. Having said that the product was good but no better than Protak. When you can get a good rod for the difference in price I know what I would go for.

TF_Kevin LeachAfter the worst soaking we have had for ages. I was still bone dry in my new tournament Halkon Hunt set up. I know its expensive but quality always is. Never had any protak clothing but after Halkon Hunt i have never had to.

I and 8 colleagues have used Protak TR for 10yrs; absolutely 1st class. I originally bought the pole jacket; bib-n-brace was so impressed by its performance bought the slip over and over trousers for summer and walking.
I’ve just replaced mine (getting a bit small) with a new set, the old set is still 100% waterproof and I’ve taken out the liner to use it when the new set is being washed.
Only fault I had was the pole jacket and slip over did not cover the overtrouser waist band when sitting on box; not a problem with the B&B.
Fished a Northern intersite at the Oaks a couple of years ago and the only people who left dry were those wearing Protak or Gortex, you can get 2-3 sets of Protak TR for one set Gortex.

05/10/2010 at 7:53 pm #118091
TF_CutnutNice to hear some people lurve their H/H Goretex, but for a budget of £150 you aint going to get it. Protak will cover your needs more than enough and will last just as long. Do the maths…simples.

06/10/2010 at 3:13 pm #118137
TF_davenfishgoretex does not have to be HH you know!!
would rather buy berghaus north face etc
cheaper
and possibly tried and tested by a lot more people
goretex for under £150 if you shop around -
06/10/2010 at 3:16 pm #118138
TF_davenfishin fact ive still got some fila goretex bottoms that i had from tk max for £40
match that with the sprayway goretex jacket £40 last chrimbo sale
goretex for £80
thats made me feel better !! -
08/10/2010 at 7:41 pm #118405
tournament_proDavenfish hit the nail on the head.
think outside the box! get to a ski/boarding shop / website
I got some awesome North face overtrousers for £60, waterproof and breathable as can be
and they come with a lifetime material guarantee so if the stitching etc comes apart in 5 years time just take the bad boys back
simples.
As for goretex, Berghaus, North Face are the ultimate. Everyones obsessed with HH / tournament goretex
-
08/10/2010 at 9:53 pm #118425
TF_Waveney OneBerghaus is no use at all if you want team clothing though is it? And what about colours? What is great for whizzing down a mountain, apres ski or boat fishing in fog at sea isn’t necessarily what you want on the canal tow path in February.

10/10/2010 at 6:50 pm #118505
tournament_proyou can generally get skiing gear in any colour but I take your point
bright pink with yellow strips, im sure youd look like…well im sure you can work it out lol
however jan porter did ok for himself dressed as a fresh tomato
-
10/10/2010 at 7:23 pm #118515
TF_Waveney OnePoint taken, but even jan would admit to being outside the norm when it came to match fishing what with his red tackle box and head banging red earphones. Look at him now, even his vehicle has camouflage on it ~think
