TF_Waveney OneI always soak my pellets before feeding them as they look as if they have been in the water longer. I hair rig (with a lasso) a soaked hard pellet when silvers are being a right pain but even then the centre of the pellet is still hard and with the make I use and the length of time that they are soaked it would be very hard to put a hook in it without it breaking. If I left them soaking long enough to get a hook right through they start breaking up anyway.
So I would find out the make of the pellet before committing yourself down that line.

laudan5they are the pellets sold in the on site shop , as i soaked some sat night , fridged them up and tried hooking them sunday . they were perfect and i would be confident that they would stay on the hook fine . i thought they would be as you suggest soft on outside and hard in the middle , but they were soft enough to hook through the middle of the pellet . dont know what make they are but i know have about 5 kilos , so will last me a few mths !

TF_poleanglerYou can do this with quite a lot of pellets Skrettings are the easiest to do.

TF_swingtipbryive been useing the standard skettering pellets for a while and before fishing i would put a couple of handfulls in a sandwich bag with about the same in water and by the time ive got to the bank and set up there perfect if left longer but drained the slightly harder middle in some will go and the pellets go completely soft
they are perfect then to just put on the hookive just got a new sack of 4mm and 6mm and this weekend when fishing the 4mm worked fine but the 6mm had turned to pulp looking at the 6mm unsoaked they did not seem as good as the last sack i might have over soaked the 6mm but they dont seem the same texture
all i can say is they work very well but if you try and they turn to sludge there only good as feed pellets
this is the only pellet i fish with -

TF_swingtipbrysoaked the 6mm to check if oversoaked and the new bag will not work for putting on the hook after 20 minutes hard middle and falling apart on the outside of the pellet
conclusion some bags work some dont -

TF_Waveney OneI think that you are right mate, different bags different results which isn’t good when you have bought 22.5 kg’s! Could try the old jelly pellet trick I suppose but if they are breaking up with cold water they would probably be worse with warm water~think .

ill just have to try fishing slightly different with this bag when they turned fast i used some as paste with good results
if i feed this pellet they will break down fast so might be better to fish with paste made of the same
if i fish this bag with a pellet that does not break down the same and stays firm it might not fish the same as ive been fishing -

Tubbs TubsonGet some Dynamite Baits hard feed pellets…fill a 3 pint tub with them and enough water to just cover…leave overnight in the fridge or somewhere cool and hey-presto; a brilliant soaked feed pellet which also hooks very well…suits those of us who like to fish on the hook exactly what we feed..
