on a good year ,If its a Mk1 origanal 507 then its worth £50+ – £100 depending on condition (average £70)
if its a 507 goldmax piece of junk about £35
Is there really a market for these reels then Steve? I ask cos I put a post up on various sites for 506’s last year and I was GIVEN 3 FOC.
the origanal 507’s still keep a good value ,because they’re the best closed faced reel (maybe not perfect) and still sort after as they’re great for trotting for grayling etc upto 18months ago ,you would of been assured of £60+ but the reccession bites hard ,the collectors are very fussy and only a perfect mint one will draw money from them .
i brought a second 507 recently cost me £46 + £5 P&P .& that was faulty ,it’s perfect now .theres a couple listed worth watching just too get a feel for what they’re fetching now
this ones on no bids but still £30ish but will probably jump in price in the dying seconds
Abu 507 no1 sold for about £50
this ones also at £30ish mark with 8 bids ,so will jump up in price as auction ends
abu 507 no2
best time too sell c/f reels is in the closed season around end of may ,in time for new season
i watch the 507’s listings as i’m keeping a eye out for spare spools
the 506’s are great also but have suffered since the 706 came out ,but some still fetch £20-£30 ,I still have one from the eighties and a moden 706 ,i like my abu’s for both still water and running water floatfishing ,they’re probably no good too match anglers because they’re not speed machines ,much better suited too pleasure angling for grayling etc ,and they’re the perfect accumpliment too a centrepin for those windy days
