There was a man a few years back who had this method sorted. I believe is name was Simon Gould and he took Gold valley apart. I drew next to him there in one match, and he totally battered me..
I approached him after the match and he showed me how he did it. It consisted of a gallon of maggots which were completely cleaned of any sawdust ect. And by dipping his hand in a bucket of water and turning the maggots over, not only would It clean them more he was also coating them with the water, so the horlicks would stick to them. He added it slowly turning the maggots over and over, if he added to much, he would just wet his hand again till he got it how he wanted It.. Practice will show you the away.
Have some fresh maize in a box and dip your hand In to It after you have made a ball up. That way It wont stick to the catapult when you fire it out.. A gallon of maggots will go very quickly using this method!! That’s why he had it sussed, he didn’t feed every cast. Every two or three would be about right, and he used the splash of the waggler to get bites or more like rod got pulled in.. I hope this helps a bit and the rest will come with practise. I got out a couple of times after that to give it ago, and had a couple of nice days fishing that way.
