TF_Staff BullYou will get such a varied answer to this mate that your head will be baffled, Airity, Sensas 774, Colmic x5000, G Max 1000, Tourney Pro, Absolute 12, Maver Elite 77 just to name a few superb poles. All down to personel choice.

TF_RhinoAgree with staff bull – depends what feature you regard as most important.
One thing often underplayed is how easy the pole is to “ship” i.e. how good is the finish on the sections – some are very poor, especially in damp conditions.
Daiwas are good all rounders though others are stiffer and lighter.
Reglass (Maver/ Preston) as a rule are light but wall strength is not as good as some and sections can be quite a large diameter.
Personally I have just switched to a Colmic x5000 having previously owned a TP, airity and latterly an elite 77. All good poles but I like the stiffness, strength and slimness of the Colmic…plus the finish is excellent.
Best bet is to get yourself along to a shop with a good pole alley, phone them first to check they have in stock what you want to see e.g. Bobco; Fosters; Ted Carters. Other shops like subfish will display poles indoors which is always a help with the weather we are having!

TF_RhinoTrilogy is proving popular. It’s strong and well balanced though imo not as responsive as the colmic and finish is not as smooth.

TF_respectI thought long and hard about my next pole and i kept on coming back to Diawa, for my style of fishing (mainly commies)i bought a tourny x,
It was the best decision i have ever made, top class pole, top class package, top class performance, and it will keep its value for at least 4/5 years if the original is anything to go by!! it will still be worth a Grand in 4 years.
There hasent been anything else out there to match it yet in all the plus points i have mentioned above!apart from the Airirty but i cant comment on that because i havent got one,LOL!Yes i am a Diawa convert i must agree!but there arn`t many other top pole suppliers that have as good a track record as Diawa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TF_p2hl_p2hlhallo.
one very important fact not mentioend above.unless this is a mine is better, more expensive, and so on, than yours. It is very important that you try the pole at the actual length you will be fishing it at. (and what a wonderfull game that “mine is better than yours” is for anglers)
If most of your fishing will be at 11-13- 14 meter then go compare the poles at that length.
reason being: to make poles very rigid at 16 meters the especially the 11/13/14½ meter sections are over engeneered, and also have their section diameter increased, in order to deliver the sought afeter rigidity at 16meters… however if you mainly fish shorter than 16 meter you then find yourself fighting a thicker and heavier pole than you need.
I suspect the Colmic to compare better at 13 meters, and ie preston the one better at 16 meters.I however understand that some UK companies will release poles optimised for 13meter during 2011…
