avfcjacksonParticipantSorry chaps if this sort of thread has been done to death, but I could do with some advise on this as I’m in the market for a new pole for around £1000. I currently own a Daiwa Matchwinner 811, which I have been well pleased with over the years. I mainly fish commercial fisheries so need something strong.

Have a look at the MAP TKS range. 425 and 525 below your budget. Spares are cheap and to be fair the poles are great for the money. The 525 is easily fishable at 16m. -

avfcjacksonParticipantThanks Steve will definitely be having a look at the MAP TKS poles, Bryan also recommended them, you reckon the 525 would feel an improvement to my MW811 ? or should I stretch to the 625?

TF_Staff BullFor a grand you could get a second hand Tourney Pro or Garbo Super G10, but if you wanna buy new you gotta look at the map range, but if it was me id seriously consider a second hand flagship pole mate.
Merry Xmas. -

TF_TickleThe TKS 50 is still available, and is about bang on your budget, better than the 525 and more spare top kits, and cheaper than the 625.

TF_Fred Davisthree of my mates have all bought the 625 and it’s really good for the money, the odd section has however snapped all been replaced FOC with no hassle, having had a go with them they offer superb stiffness that compares very well if not better than some flagship poles imo

MrFoxmanAgree with a couple of others a 2nd hand tourney pro will be the best choice. Once you’ve felt it you will think that is money well spent. It may take a little while to find one that will suit you, i.e if it has enough spares and may cost just over a grand but the toujrney pro’s are legendary. I have one and got mine 2nd hand and I can see myself having it for a long time.

TF_Fred DavisI personally wouldn’t buy second hand flagship you have no gurantee and if you break a section no recall, some of the bigger sections may cost over £400 to replace, I would however suggest that if you can go the extra mile to save up for a browning Xiton Z7.5 this pole is really up to commercial work and is one down from the browning Z9.It’s super stiff and mega strong more importantly comes with a gurantee, also some of the sensas poles may be worth a look although I am not a great fan of the length of the sections on the sensas poles as they are mega long.

TF_dirkdiggleranother vote for a secondhand tournament pro.
it’ll make anything for £1000-£1500 new seem very very ordinary indeed. -

The 525 is a cracing pole for the money. Not had a waggle with the 625 so will not comment.I understand what people are saying about a second hand flagship pole for the same money. But what you have to consider is no warranty and the cost of spares.
If you want to have a look at mine let me know. We can arrange something through Bryan.

TF_paulDIve seen some very cheap Pros being offered around – a good buy if you can get one with plenty of spares.
Fred D mentioned the browning 7.5. They also have a new Z4.5 (whats the .5 about?~think ) which is about a grand with a lot of kit. My local shop went to their trade show and said that these new poles are the best for the money hes seen and he sells MAP & Garb. Theyre eacactly like the z9 (just diferent carbon ?) you can have pullakits with them as a free option. Ive seen his catalog and spares are very cheap and interchange. Im gonna buy a 4.5 5th as a spare for my Z9. He bought a z9 and a Z2.5 as a Christmas pressy for himself at the show.

TF_RhinoThe fakes g20 should take the top kits from your 811 if that is a consideration. Nice pole for the money. Personally would go the good used route but that is your choice
