BX is the newer model if you are talking the current two piece rods.

i am looking to purchase one too, what have they done to the new model to better it then Steve? i know the AX has a lot of top matchmen using them?

To be honest the main issue will be the change in price, the original beastmaster 9-11 went up a lot in the last 2 years price wise. The new BX will be back to the original starting price pretty much. Action wise the rods are pretty much identical. You only get two complete top sections with the new rods though instead of 3 which came with the AX.

I bought one of the early ones with push in tips, seems to have a flat spot, did you find this an issue playing fish close to the net? (not used it in anger yet)…..

It was never an issue but it wasnt perfect. That was why the commercial AX changed to one piece top sections to avoid the flat spot you tend to get with push in quiver tips.

Secondhand one’s go for between £80 and £90, strong money but they are sought after and a good bit of kit. Happy hunting

same as me I got one of the early ones for about 60 quid, great rod and has handled anything I have used it for
