TF_Joe Carassif any of you would be kind enough to take the Match Fishing mags survey on http://www.matchfishingmagazine.com it only takes 5 Mins and the results will help us see what area’s of the mag you all like and which you dont.
also if you have any idea’s for the mag or suggestions, either post them on here or be a bit more personal and e-mail me at [email protected]
Many Thanks
JoeMerry Christmas and a happy New Year!!!!

TF_NW Cut AnglerJoe the design of the questionnaire could be improved. If you for example do not belong to a club / fish club matches then the questionnaire should miss those questions related that follow etc.

TF_Joe Carassits just different types of internet browsers mate. the girls at work must have rushed it online so that it was up over the xmas period. we work on MAC’s at work and only use safari so i suppose it wont have got a last minute test. ill get them to sort that out when we get back after the hols.
i think the salary question is just to get an idea who buys our mag, as the general consensus is that a lot of our readers are ‘sun’ readers.
thanks everyone who has taken the time out to do it!!!!

TF_thedogdidnt get past the first page but not cos it wouldnt load, i cant see how my marrital status or earnings would help in any way. i subscribe to MF but wouldnt read the s*n if i was paid to. If you want ideas to improve your mag just ask on here.
How about a dedicating a issue to fishing a festival take a few anglers, cover how they go about getting through the week or split the issue into three cover a festival in England, Ireland and Holland show how the three differ.
What about covering a open match at different venues around the country as a monthly slot.
Im sure you will get a few other ideas from the users on here -

TF_Sharp HookJust a question.
The original question was. ‘Want to help make match fishing magazine better’
What does how much I earn, marital status, home owner and question the like have to do with making a magazine better. Why do you need to know?
Sorry not filled in the questionaire because of the above. Point less info that will no doubt be sold on to a third party so I can get loads of crap either emailed or sent to me.
Revamp the questionaire and i’ll think about it.

TF_p2hl_p2hlQuestions about your income and home ownership, are important.
High income = high disposable income. Should MF through this questionnaire be able to demonstrate that their readership has a higher than expected income, They might be able charge more for the ads, in the mag, especially the non fishing ads. Home ownership: the point is along the same lines.
This means MF can invest more in the mag or have better and more expensive office parties…provided we all bring home a lot dough. And if you dont like answering those 2 questions, just do what everybody else does lie… simple as that… to go on here and complain about it, just shows you have too much time on your hands = most likely unemployed, retired ect. = low income… the fact that I come one here and have time to complain at about that fact that you complain over a questionnaire only shows that I am an ass…. A low income ass, by my own logic…
But hey I already know that =OD
Have a happy holiday…and good luck with the mag joe

TF_Sharp HookNever meant to offend you Joe or point the finger. I just find it stupid that these question have to be asked. They have no relevance as far as I’m concerned.

Now then Joe, what exactly is wrong with ‘Sun’ readers? If they do make the majority of your readership do you want to lose them? Didn’t Stan Piecha write for the Sun?
I quite like looking at the Sun!Glad to see that you are trying to improve something that is already good!

TF_NW Cut AnglerMost surveys have these types of questions. It isn’t a big deal.
-
27/12/2010 at 10:55 am #126604
TF_AnthonywatersParticipantI subscribe to match fishing because its difficult to get hold of I think it should be acknowleged that getting hold of a copy is difficult why cant DHP get it into the supermarkets ? Im sure increasing availability will in directly increase your sales ? And I know all anglers have different tastes but theres too much river fishing in it for me I dont know anyone that goes river fishing anymore.

TF_rocketFeederForgive my ignorance, but what is ‘a Sun reader’?

TF_Joe Carassreads the sun newspaper lol
-
27/12/2010 at 11:45 am #126608
TF_NW Cut AnglerIt is quite odd and something I think DHP need to rectify for their own POV, I find Pole fishing hard to get hold of but Match Fishing is readily available. I presume both have the same distributor?
-
27/12/2010 at 11:50 am #126609
TF_NW Cut AnglerRocket basically marketing types like to categorise people. So if you read the Sun that is one tick for a category type.
There are a multitude of ways of categorising people. Even the Census does so.
Another method

29/12/2010 at 1:30 am #126718
TF_GavinAnthonywaters, they have to pay to have the mags in the supermarkets! Is why you find the higher selling TCF and carp mags in the supermarkets- they can justify the expense of paying to have them there in the extra sales. Match mags have a smaller audience than the above mentioned so it probably aint worth paying to have the mags in there as the sales wouldn’t increase enough to warrant the outlay.

TF_fred van den feedermake it better? how about awnser emails and make sure the subcribers get the magazine they have payed for?(the magazine) Must be more people than myself that moves and change adress? make it easy, log in page were i can change the adress my self?

TF_StewartJoe,
I was only jesting! Sorry I have not been able to get back, I have been computer restricted for a few days.
I like to read your regular contributors as each brings their own character to Match Fishing magazine. They each try to bring something different, which in my opinion is interesting, and at the same time instructional. Even though I do not get on rivers and canals these days I still read the articles. (Hopefully, one day they might fill the Cornish rivers with Barbel, Roach and Chub) I’m sure it must be helping to improve angler’s ability. Do you see a change in the way the match anglers on say the S & K approach matches now? Now, that there is more information available from the likes of Lee, Alan and yourself? -

29/12/2010 at 11:16 am #126737
TF_RutilusThe questionaire has nothing to do with “improvements”.
A cheap ploy to gather personal info and sell on to 3rd parties.
Those that have filled it in wait out for junk mail and spam!! -

all good anglers no doubt about it but it would be nice to see the old feature where u follow regular winners on the circuit on a full match again, sure it was called “stopwatch” that was a good feature. that way if were goin to one of the venues we see how they have fished it an caught.
-
29/12/2010 at 12:46 pm #126744
TF_AnthonywatersParticipantStill dont work on windows 7 you can fill out the first page of the survey then it freezes shame I fancied winning that snazzy seatbox.

TF_Joe Carassstewart- your not kidding about the S&K!!!! everyone uses the same floats, hooks, line and mix as lee now lol and people say tackle in features doesnt work???
-
29/12/2010 at 1:08 pm #126750
TF_NW Cut AnglerI think Harry went too much River orientated which is understandable as that is his passion but realistically they are never going to be where they once were re match fishing.
I do not read much of what Matt writes. Lee Kerry I enjoy. Darren Cox I have really enjoyed in the last 12 months as he concentrates of the dynamics of angling / what happens under the surface etc.
-
29/12/2010 at 1:25 pm #126752
TF_Joe Carassye Darren truly is a credit to the sport, how he keeps coming up with things to write about i’ll never know but he does and its brilliant stuff.
im just looking foward to being able to do normal features again…sick of all the ice lol
-
29/12/2010 at 2:17 pm #126753
TF_NW Cut AnglerPeople may think otherwise but it must be hard to keep coming up with article after article other than the diary format.
Quirky thinking anglers appear from time to time witha lot to offer. I was very impressed by Mark Wragg when he wrote in the Angling Star and he has slowly made it to the nationwide publications.
The crossover specimen tactics to commercial match fishing have been something new / different.
-
29/12/2010 at 2:22 pm #126755
TF_NW Cut AnglerSomething that may be of interest to many albeit it will probably only boost magazine purchases with the region / area focussed upon in that edition would be a really in depth profile of venues.
Whiteacres / South West is the obvious one but places like Cudmore / Woodlands / Oaks / Partridge with details re pegs / depth / hotspots / tactics etc.
-
29/12/2010 at 2:47 pm #126756
TF_Joe Carasswraggy is a legend!!! that bloke wins so many matches its daft.
i like the venue type features, we did a real in depth piece on the river Tee’s and i thought it was a great read. i deffo think they are better than the venue detective type pieces.

Ditto & none of the emails I received had an UNSUBSCRIBE link (as required by law). Wouldn’t bother me if I had signed up to a mailing list, but I didn’t even get past page one like others!

To be fair there is an UNSUBSCRIBE link on the bottom of the e-mails I had sent to me. I don’t mind the e-mails it just came as a suprise to have 3 in one day. Although the third one was to let me know that I could ignore the second one.
If its a new thing that they are trying to do be keeping people in touch with what is ging on then fair enough. It would have been better to ask first though!

Same, except Virgin Media refuses to let me open them to see what they are (and decide if I want to un-subscribe!)
