lol Paddy! I might sound like I come from Walsall but I’m actually from Coventry.

I moved to Walsall when I was 18 to do my nurse training (RNMH) at the Sister Dora School of Nursing and me and the Black Country accent got stuck there for nearly 20 years. I only moved when my girlfriend (now Wife) was pregnant 10 years ago.

I did love it over there though: Bentley Bait Box, Wednesday evening opens on the canal, draw in the Forge Hammer then two and a half hours bagging on tiny tench on the caster!

Are there still tench in there?

I once caught a terrapin from that canal covered in barnacles! It looked like it had been there forever!

Mark, I know all of those places very well. I even gate crashed a party in the nurses bar of the Sister Dora Hospital and ended up with my fiancee of the last 19 years, who i am going to marry next July!

I know the canal stretch at the front of the hospital, opposite the forge hammer (pub shut now) which runs up to the Birchills by the Navigation pub. I have not fished there for over 35 years, but the surrounding HanKat stretches are very good. Lee off here is the man to talk to about those areas.
Do you know the Wharf area? which is the back off the Art Gallery? in front of the Wharf Pub? Me and my daughters went to the gallery last summer and watched a bloke taking some stonking nice bream on double red maggot over ground bait at 13m on the pole, plus skimmers as well. To say it is Urban fishing is an understatement!

Jane came back from Jersey to the Sister Dora to do her specialised childrens training and at the time you are talking about, she was the one who found the baby in the corridoor, which went all over the local telly and front of the E&S.

Never liked the place myself! much prefer Sedgley!!
