TF_jwbGot mine from the shop today.
Got to say brilliant edition. Lots of non commercial articles for a change.
Both articles on the Wye series are brilliant.~clap -

TF_NW Cut AnglerGot mine today. In many respects improved and promising far more in 2011. I think Dave overdoes River fishing but dare anybody say that apart from myself when the vocal minority castigate all things but rivers. Personally, I think Cut articles should = River articles in number and that should be 1:1 not 1:3 as in this edition. I barely skim read Matt Magenis and in this month you had 3 articles covering the same region river wise.
The editorial intrigued me as I like what it hinted at. The new Stan Piecha was a big step forward IMO on his previous efforts. Performance of the month is a fantastic idea as long as it does not turn into an excuse for another river article month upon month. In conversation is another neat idea.
I think Coxy is awesome. Lee Kerry continue to be excellent. For mere mortals, I think we need to have 15 minutes of publishing fame and that is all most can successfully contribute. Lots of guys on Fishing4Fun such as Stewart could contribute in short bursts before needing to recharge their literary batteries. Dave Brittain, even Giles fit that category IMO.
Match Fishing is improving and will continue to do so as long as Harry is pragmatic/hard headed and less indulgent of his personal passion.

TF_AnthonywatersParticipantNw cut angler I agree too much river fishing I’ve said it before I wonder if it would be worth scrapping pole fishing and re formatting match fishing magazine then have 2 match fishing mags one for stillwaters & commercials and another magazine for rivers and drains etc ?

TF_gis9I am not a river angler as such but i enjoy the articles and i do think to myself i could do that

TF_NW Cut AnglerAnthony I do not know if you got the lastest issue but Performance of the Month:Hadrian Whittle and Matt Magennis were identical, both covering the Wye Festival. I personally would say that is poor editing.
I love canals but the reality is I am a minority so I understand that canal articles will be few and far between. I would argue, rivers should be treated similarly.
A recent thread about great articles, yes a couple of people mentioned a cut or a river article but when people talk about Giles, about Steve Ringer, Findlay etc they are talking about commercial fishing by and large and the reason why IMO is because commercial fishing is the most dynamic genre of match fishing at the present time with a far greater turnover of ideas.
There is an element of snobbery online regarding rivers and some ludicrous criticism of commercial fisheries.

TF_wildingukstill no copies available anywhere around the peterborough area, not the first time either.Think it’s the 4th time this year the mags been late hitting the shelves.
As for articles, as I’m a fen drain angler and sometimes river angler, I’d obviously love more features on natural venues.
I do like the suggestion of scrapping pole fishing, in favour of having one magazine for commercial venues, another for natural venues. Would give people a better choice, though like most natural venue anglers I still dabble on commercials. I do, though, find most of the articles about commercials a bit of a bore.

TF_AnthonywatersParticipantPeople like reading about commercial match fishing there should be 2 magazines in my opinion im more interested in specimen fishing than river fishing !

TF_wildingukThe two magazine idea would be good.
Generally the course magazines are very good though, and have a wide range of articles with different themes. I used to buy the odd sea fishing mag, as I sea fish from time to time, but after buying one for a year, come the next year the advice and articles were the same as 12 months previously. So a big up to the course mag editors for keeping things fresh.
Would love to see a few articles on the drains and cuts as well as the rivers and commercials. I;d love to see a big name angler or two on the venues I frequent, just to see how they approach them, and to see how and why they will catch more than I would :o)

TF_daverobertsHaven’t had mine yet but not surprised as I waited 11 days and 13 days respectively for 2 separate mailed 2nd class letters before christmas. How bad is that?
Also like to add I love reading Matts Angle. Some of the stuff he comes up with is hillarious as well as being a little bit different. The ‘wind Tourrettes’ article last year was priceless.
Don’t think theres any ‘River snobbery’ (whatever that is) as most of us writing river articles are also fishing and writing articles on commercials.

TF_wightanglerlooking forward to this months arriving,
like the current M/F and P/F- not sure that splitting commercials and naturals would be a good thing if that would mean too many sole or preponderance of duplicated river articles at expense of lake, and canals
How would you fit existent excellent coverage team champs, events and particuarly our National FIPS teams into such a split? -

TF_Fred DavisI think with all the commercials virtually frozen the river articles may be the incentive a few of us need to get out, walking around the lea valley most of the lakes were frozen solid but there was plenty of anglers on the river all blanking mind but unless you give it a go you never know, I enjoyed some of the articles which were quite a refreshing change from carp.

TF_RunctonMine arrived yseterday. From the quick look I have had it seems to be getting better all the time. I don’t mind a month with few articles on commercials just for a change, I think this is on way that they manage to keep it fresh.

TF_macca63Think all magazines are suffering the same problem at the moment and its in the hands of the post office, the missus took out a subscription to Good Housekeeping in November, she received a letter yesterday postmarked 20/12 stating that her subscription will start with the January issue which should arrive no later than the 18/12 !!
