TF_CraftytaftyBrooksy had got half the Moat free yesterday ( and was breaking the Clover) but we’ve had a frost again last night so it may have froze, however it probably won’t be that thick. There’s an open on the Moat saturday.
Don’t know when the next open is on the Carp lake.
You can win with Roach if your fishing through ice, but I doub’t as you would if it was clear. We started to have some silver fish pole only matches on the Carp lake once a month on a thursday before it froze which were good and we’ll start again soon.
Also if there was any interest I would ask Brooksy if I could run a few Silver matches on it at a weekend, but I know it’s busy with club matches.
Caught a few on bloodworm last weekend, it was good to get some bites. better than sitting there hoping for a couple of bites off a carp.
( Jeez, hope Joffy doesn’t read what I just put lololol)

TF_CraftytaftyI’m going to have a word with Brooksy to see if I can get an odd match on the carp lake at a weekend, silvers/ pole only. Just until March till the carp really take over but depnds on availability.
Also I’ve spoke with a couple of lads about running the same (silver’s/pole only) on wednesday’s, (again just till say mid March till the other lakes start to pick up for carp)
We’ll give it a try maybe, if there is some interest we could perhaps do the same next winter, swapping from the Moat and Clover to the Carp Lake at the end of november. At least we will get a few bites not just sit there all day hoping for a a couple of Carp.
Once I’v checked with Brooksy I’ll put a thread up.

TF_CraftytaftyI went down this morning and from peg 8 to 14 was totally clear apart from a bit right at the end.
We broke the ice completely down to peg 5 with the boat and Brooksy did the rest. The wind would have blown it down towards peg 1 so it should be clear for tomorrow, maybe a bit of cat ice if anything. Clover ice was thin too, break it easy. Canal was clear up to bout peg 12.
i expect it’ll be rock hard tomorrow but fishable -

TF_CraftytaftyIt must have shrunk lol, cos Lee told me his carp was 9lb and he had skimmers and perch for 7lb.
Lad next to him had 10lb of roach on worm and joker
Those weights were off the roadside which aren’t the best pegs
