Daiwa do a reel called a procaster x, i bought one when they came out originally. They are a spinning reel, but are ideal for feeder work, and come with a spare spool. I have the 4000 and its on the heavy side and a bit cumbersome, but it spends most of its time on a rod rest, so isn’t really a problem. But its an animal of a reel and will cope with just about anything that could be thrown at it.
There are one or two plastic bits on it but in general its solid and very well made. Tons of winding power and the guts seem well solid.
I recon if you shop around you might be able to pick one up around the 35 quid mark, i got mine for 30 from fisherman’s friend, but the price went up a bit when they got more popular.
Another good little reel is the Shakespeare Mach 3. The only problem I had with this was that it had that mass produced feel about it, and felt like it lacked the quality of the daiwa, having said that I am sure they would cope admirably.
