If its a team match then you will need to go for the tidlers. These go 50ish to the pound. There are some bigger fish but patchy as with all canals.
Its 13 – 16m across and about 4 – 5foot deep in the channel. Plumb up and find the contours. Put some g/bait and casters just going up the shelf. Feed some casters across on the far shelf. Put some chopped worm in as well to the left or right of the main swim.
Fish squatt or pinkie for the tiddlers. Other baits are worm, caster and red maggot.
It gets very boaty so you will land up fishing the far shelf. Hopefully you’ll have a feature like a bush or tree over. You’ll have to fish the back of these as the fish will land up there. Lay on with the caster in the shallow water for better roach. Ask the locals for any individual peg info about the bream.
Fish species are roach, perch, skimmers with the odd tench and carp.
Rigs:- 4×10 – 4×14 floats. 0.1mm line with 0.08mm hook lengths. 20 and 22 hooks. Go up a grade if on the bigger fish. 4 – 6 elastics.
