What do you think the pools money should be on a commercial fishery, most places i go are £20, do you think this is about right or should it be more or less?

which venue charges the most for day ticket (for matches)???~think.i fish with people who do £30 pools because the fishery takes £10 day ticket, what a joke for a 5 hour match

Daiwa Pro you fish I guess in the Surrey/Hants. area. Cold Valley & MBK are all £10/day. It’s because you lot all have more money.

I am fed up of the way most commercials spread the money.Years ago I could win £100 on a £10 entry, now if you fish a 30 peg commy open no chance.I think if you win it deserves a good payout, I am quite happy with section payouts but what is wrong with £20 or £25 every 10 pegs, not £30 -£50. It also discourages travelling to a match as it is just not worth it.Rant over.

loads of money i wish, gold valley charges £4 a peg for a match, which is the cheapest day ticket venue i have fished. i heard venues that charge so much have to cover the cost of high insurance, not sure though???

Pools money is a big problem for fishery owners. Think about it, they make their money from bums on seats so the higher the turnout the better for them. This is why money is spread out. If you set mega payouts you are likely to get lower turnouts so its a bit self defeatist really.

Suffolk Water Park charge £6 for a day ticket, £5 for a peg in a match. As far as pools are concerned, when I was running the matches there they were £15 for opens on Sundays so £20 all in and £10 for Saturdays and Wednesdays. Trying to get more people to attend the matches they started having £10 pools on Sundays making it £15 all in. It doesn’t seem to have made any difference to the attendances and this week they were back to £20 all in.

I dont think things have changed an awful lot..25 years ago i was fishing open matches on the River Avon at Twyford farm near Evesham..Pools were £5 and if i remember correctly £1 of that was for the peg fee which equates to 20% of the entry fee.
Today if you consider that most matches are either £20 or £25 to enter and £5 of that pays for your peg fee (on a lot of venues round here)then the equation is roughly the same as it was back then.
The only thing that has changed is the size of the matches which are a lot smaller these days..This is simply down the fact that there are a lot more fisheries to choose from nowadays for a match which has fragmented the anglers therefore reducing the size of the average match and this obviously has a knock on effect to what is available to payout out from the pools pot.

plenty enough money to pay out from £15 all in with a £5 DT,

My opinion is, if it aint too much to enter then the anglers cant complain to much about the payout being spread at £25 sections every 8-10 pegs..

25 years ago. The pools i was paying for team and the big open matches were £8-£12(100+ anglers). Knock ups on my local park lakes and canals normally cost £5 pool (20-40 anglers on average). The local clubs ran pools costing £3-£5(15-30 anglers).

Based on these pools and the comparable average wages of then and now. We should be paying £35-£50 to fish a team or bigger open match. £20 plus peg fee to fish a local knock-up/open match(£25+peg fee if small sections are payed out or more than the top 3/4. Club matches should be £15-£20 but this should cover pegging fee,s.

There use to be a clear line between the different types of matches in peg fee,s and the structure for the pay outs. Today, Club match pay outs are very similar to the average knock up/open match on a commercial these days. Bigger opens and team matches while sometimes offering a bigger pay out because of the higher numbers of anglers is often offset by more anglers being payed out. This often means that the winner of a big open match often picks up similar prize money to the money a club angler wins in a club match. The money picked up for winning the average knock up/open match is at best equal to winning a club match and in some cases higher if you win the club match with a different pay out structure.

Clearly, there is something totally wrong with the cost and structure for the pay outs for opens. The UK Champs being the only event which has the correct format for pools and pay out from open matches in my opinion!

                                  Thanks TB.
For the UK champs I pay out £1000 for the winner, £500 2nd and £250 3rd.
Secions are £150 1st and £50 2nd, but the anglers are paying £240 to enter plus £20 pools on the day(£80 entry!)

The more thats in the pot, the more that gets paid out!

Think that works out at about 12.5/1 on your poles money if you win a match in the UK Champs. The average pay out if you win in a typical open match is about 6/1 and often less. It tells me that a lot of anglers with quite high profiles are out of pocket!

Going off the payout it works out around 22/1 for your money for winning a match in the UKs

The £20 on the day pools is a bit misleading
You need to be paying £45 per match to pay the figures out

£25 will come out of the entry fee for each match. The peg fees and the overall payout will be the rest of the entry money

Te £20 pools on the day for the UK Champs covers the section payouts on the day only (1st £150 & 2nd £50)..The rest comes from the entry fee of £240 which each entrant has to pay, this also covers the payout for the overall top 10 at the end of the league.
Hope this clarifies things for you.

                                            Liquizded, 12.5 X £80 = £1000 so 12.5/1 if you win a match in the UK champs.

on partridge weekend opens its £20 entry fee ………… £6 peg fee,£8 section, £6 towards top 4.. So on a 75 pegger you are getting £40 for winning your 5 man section 5x£8 .leaving £450 for paying the top 4… I think this is a very fair way of paying out, and keeps the numbers up. The average anglers have a least got a chance of doubling their money by winning their 5 man section even if they havent got much chance of winning the match . I think its better than say paying £15 entry then only paying the top 3 plus a few big sections

I pay 1/2 the money out to the top 10, and the other 1/2 on each match.

Roughly its £10,000 between the top 10 overall, and roughly its £10,000 over the 4 matches, (£2,500 per match).
