TF_The_SargeHi all,
New to the forum, good to “meet” you all.
I was wondering if anyone had any advice for fishing venues in the north bucks area, I’m living just south of Buckingham.
I prefer roach, perch, bream, tench… And accept small carp just because they’re everywhere now! 😉
In terms of method I tend to pole fish, although I do have a waggler rod. Only started fishing again last year. Might try method feeder this year. Really enjoy pole fishing though!
Good to meet you all, tight lines.

TF_steve rHi Sarge, welcome to the site.
I don’t know the area particularly well but going by your wish list of species I would say the Grand Union Canal around Milton Keynes would be a good area to try and I know it’s fishing quite well at the moment.

TF_squattHello fella there are loads of venues near by. On the Milton Keynes ticket there is Furzton, Willan, Caldecote and many more plus stretches of river and canal. British Waterways up the road at Banbury ie Clattercote, Boddington and Drayton. Alders Farm, Rolfs Lake, Pans Hill and Oakfield are close these are popular commies. There are stetches of the rivers Cherwell and Thames to the south of you. Finally there are loads of smallish pools dotted around filled with Carp etc. Pimlico Farm, Glebe Farm, Kirtlington Estate are a few. If you need anymore info just post on here.

TF_The_SargeThanks Squatt.
Looks like we live in the same village! Google mentioned a steeple angling club but couldn’t find details?
I was looking at glebe? Is it a carp pool only or mixed? Probably most local to me/us?
Tried clattercote for tench last summer and had a couple. Good day. I love Kirlington for the small perch in the bigger lake on the horse estate bit. Still to try the other lake over the road, had forgotten about it so will visit there!
I’ve tried Pimlico as well. Nice venue. More than one lake so will re-add to my list.
Thanks, reminded me of some and I’d like to try MK canal stretches as well so will look at their club.

TF_squattYour kidding me. Best you pop round one weekend and I will show you round. There is a local club, but the one I suggest you join is Calvert if you like Tench/Carp and the odd Bream. They have the bottom lake on Claydon Estate which is 1 mile from Steeple.

TF_The_SargeI was in calvert this year. Bottom lake was full of weed most the year so took some prep. tried itters a couple of times with limited success. I was living in Calvert before, not moved far! Not been on this site before though so good to see opinions.
Probably won’t stay on the Calvert book this year, try some different venues. MK canal is a must – no canals where I grew up so only fished a canal once and really enjoyed it.
Any parts of the MK canal with enough room to not be competing with walkers/cyclists?
I might book a day off work this week and have a day or afternoon out…. Hmmm. Tempting.

TF_dave smiffHow nice would that be to have those lakes in your garden. Fill them with roach and have some nice winter matches with your mates.
I might book a viewing next week.
