ive had a transit connect for 3 years now loads of room in the back just like driving a car ultra reliable.

Had 2 transit connects mate and cant fault em lot around aswell, ex utility are usually good buys as have been regularly serviced, although fuel economy not quite as good as others i would say i used to get 35-40mpg out of mine i got a citroen dispatch at the moment but only cuz i need 3 seats for my 2 kids keep looking for faults with it as not keen on french motors but havnt found one yet

I have a 2002 Kangoo 1.5dci and honestly can’t fault it. Bought it damaged and got some work done on it and has been money well spent. For a 1.5 it goes like stink, good economy too, although I drive it too hard to see the real benefit of a goood MPG. If I were to buy another one I would buy one with a sliding door at the side as well as the rear doors, makes loading unloading so much handier.

Hi Ian, im just in the process of getting a astravan the 1.3 cdti

There’s alot of difference between the 1.7 and the 1.3 engines in the new Astras. I wouldn’t want a 1.3, only my opinion though.

I used to work for a Vauxhall dealership and the power output of the 1.3CDTi is more than the original 1.7CDTi. Also better economy, performance and less emissions.

The Combi with a side loading door is superb for fishing although a little unrefined but can be had at a steal if you shop hard. My ’10’ plate was £6k!

The Astravans are a better drive with a more rigid chassis but will cost you more.

I have also worked for Citroen in the past and the new shape Berlingo has a deceptively spacious cargo area and with three seats, will easily accommodate three anglers gear.

Although I now work for a car leasing company, we also provide retail vehicles at trade prices.

If you have settled on a van model at least give me a ‘kick of the ball’ to see if I can find you one. You could very well save yourself a lot of time and ££££’s!

ootf we have both vans at work. I have a 1.7 as a company ‘car’ and the 1.3 is under powered and more like an ecsort van for power imo from several years ago

ive had astravan 1.3 cdti 4 years now,plenty of power, 6 gears ,plenty room,looks and drives great.touch wood not a bit of trouble.

Vans are Vans , there all work horses. Its the romm in the back that you need. I have a citroen dispatch 53 plate. The way to get the most out of the back of your Van is create a false floor. I have my rod bags and ready made rod bags on the Ground level of the van base , and have raiised the whole floor , to create a secoundary floor for my Box , and net bags ect . My rods and pole are fully protected . and I can now get more in the back of my van. The Wood I used to make this is the Moisture resistance MDF. I will try and get some pictures up of it.

my mates(skimmeroo) just had a new berlingo,plenty of room in the back and a nice ride.you wouldn’t want to be taking 3 adults in the front though unless one’s a midget.

Remember any van over 2 tonnes has speed restrictions..most vans that are not car derived vans come into this category.

The speed restrictions are 50 in a 60 area..60 in a 70 area ..70 ok on motorway.

i can honestly
say ive never been done for speeding on a sunday. I m 46 been fishing since i was 6 still cant sleep at night . too excited about fishing with my mates on sunday always get up too early, have loads of time for a nice easy drive .

now ian im on my second kangoo van unfortunatly my first one the fuel pump went and its married to a computer and would have cost £700 to fix phew!!so binned it and got this 2003 Kangoo 1.5dci must say really delighted with it and good on mpg only prob is our lass refuses to drive it because its an ex security van and has got in big letters on the back with chevrons “dogs” lol

i drive for work vauxhall combo fiat diablo v w caddy and renault traffic pound for pound i think that the best van for the money including the m p g is the vauxhall combo. you can get the longest rodbag in crossways with the benefit of a cage bulkhead for protection against theft the deadlocking is good so you can leave the van in the car park with the gear in.the performance is good enough from the 1.3 diesel tuff little motorized tackle mover
