  AT this week has report page 2 that the EA are considering getting shut of their baliffs and then passing the book onto clubs and fisheries to check anglers have an EA fishing license and the plans have been instigated by the Angling Trust!! Can you believe the cheek buy a license and then police it yourself nice one!~think

  Bit like ‘the big society’. Pay your taxes but hey, we all need to muck in. Meanwhile some un elected baroness wants another Â£100 million of tax payers money to help Africa. Oh and she is paid 280 k by the way… Of tax payers money of course

  thats the sort of country we are turning into ,us honest people who go tot work 5 days a week and pay our taxes and just keep on doing it week in week out

  I can’t see the problem. I belong to 3 angling clubs and 2 of them require to see my licence. They have done for years. We all complain about people who don’t pay their dues so why not do something about it!
  
  I believe that every water that sells tickets to the public should do the same.
  
  We have to sort our own waste into different types of recycling, we have crimestoppers advertising on TV and as a country we are BROKE.

  Should be more licence checks. Doesnt matter who does it.

  I agree with Waveney One. When you hire a car from a rental company, they check your driving license before handing you the keys. So what is wrong with fishery owners checking to see a rod license before selling someone a day ticket?
  
  I guess the one think they need to think through is how enforcement powers would work.

  I agree we should all muck in, but I don’t agree that the EA should get rid of all their bailiffs of which I believe they don’t have many anyway. How that will save Â£2m god only knows. They must be on bloody good wages.

  This is another problem EA bailiffs do have powers equal to that of the Police. Will anglers flouting the system take any notice of club voluteers I don’t think so.
  We have a single bailiff in our small club, but doing these checks should involve at least two people in case of agro. I would image this isn’t a pleasant job turfing anglers off your water who don’t have the paperwork. Would you want to put yourself in these situations and not get paid for it?~think

  If licence checking goes down to fishery management (which IMHO I think they should check licences). There will no fines. Fishery managers would not have the power to do so. They would only be able to be able to stop people fishing at there fishery. And as Karponi says ‘would you like try and eject certain people’.
  
  Plus if the EA are no longer going to employ bailiffs. Where is that money going??

  There is a reason the EA baliffs travel in pairs wearing stab vests.
