Need some help lads. I’ve got a match coming up that’s on a recently dug pool that is stuffed with small carp averaging 8oz-1lb with the odd three pounder. Obviously they are hungry for the pellet and I’ve been told that at the moment the fish(winning weights are 60-70lb) are being caught at 10-11m on the deck in 6ft of water. Question is what would you use on the hook i.e. would you hair rig a pellet if so what size or use maggot or worm??? and would you feed with a catapult or use a cup??? Ta.

I think if we are talking about catching a lot of small carp, kinder cupping may be out, however I would start with that and see how the peg progresses, if your catching small carp one a bung then it may be prudent to feed by catty, or dump feed and fish it until bites slow, the peg will let you know once you start fishing, I would set up a couple of depth rigs a few upw rigs and if permitted just a length of line to hook rig, starting on the deck then see how the session goes and feed accordingly.

That’s great Fred but what would you use for hook baits?

only two hookbaits pellet and maggot, the mag would be if the fish came quicker to the magg, but generally i would start with a soft expander on the hook at depth a 4mm expander, feed micro’s and 4mm hard maybe a bit of crushed expander to top off the kinder cup, upw a hard lassoed 4mm pellet, might even have a varnished one set up for fishing shallow, if they come quick you don’t have to rebait so often

Much the same as Fred but with a hard banded pellet on the hook instead of a soft pellet

Would you use a 4mm or 6mm hard pellet?

A piece of dendra is a good option as well

I’d use paste, lots of hungry little carp should be a fish a chuck.

Superglue a 4mm pellet to a band and loose feed the same.

Love to use paste but it’s banned.

Good advice if Fred I’d def feed by catapult 4mls and I’d use a small hair rigged band with a size 18 B911 or similar try n catch a few fish on the same pellet also if u miss bites u won’t waste time shipping in and out. If u can get then to come up then that’s the way to go loads quicker I’d use the same hook n pellet set up just different floats for shalla!
