TF_NeilDoes anyone know when the draw for Round 2 is published?
I have a hunch it may be on Tuesday 22nd March as that will have given time for the R1 results to be submitted and the R2 draw made.
Secondary question, Is R2 to be fished on a fixed date and if so what is that date?
Cheers
Neil

TF_RutilusI’m pretty sure the 2nd round is to be fished on 8th May

TF_CutnutI believe its May 8th, not sure if it’s an AT picked venue or if it still upto a home team choice as per round one.

TF_Steve LockettYes it is May 8th with a home team and one or two away teams same as first round.

whittyI think a lot of home teams will struggle to find decent venues with the required amount of practice time in such a short timescale ~think

TF_Steve LockettI think the fixed dates have made it more difficult for some this year.
Our 1st round opponents struggled to put out a full team due to date clashes. Stafford Moor didn’t enter, as they would not be able to use their 1st choice home venue on 8th May.For me, the fixed dates made planning a lot easier. I’m not available to fish round 2, but the rest of the team are well up for it and will pick a home venue to suit if we are drawn home.
I can see that teams wanting to use popular venues as their home venue may struggle, but surely there will be somewhere they can use?As ever, there will be winners and losers when rules are laid down. We all knew the rules/dates* for this year when we entered in December.
*For the first two rounds, anyway!

TF_AbiParticipantRound 2 is on Sunday May 8th.
The draw will be done when all round 1 results are in. Still waiting for a few!
Thanks – Abi AT

Abi,
You don’t need all the results in to conduct the Round 2 draw! You could easily do what happens in the FA cup draw when ties haven’t been completed.
The draw could quite easily be published as Team A or Team B vs Team C (or vice versa)
If you delay the announcement of the draw you will be creating problems for home teams to book venues (where necessary) and for away teams to practice.
If you create problems for teams you will only see the reputation of the competition diminish.

con2302ParticipantTotally agree with Neil.
We have provisionally booked a venue for May 8th but are being pressurised into confirming it. If we lose the date, and still get a home draw, how do we secure a ‘home’ water with just 4 weeks notice ? ~think -

AnonymousABI,Neils reply is spot on the money.~clap ~clap
We have won the Scottish 1st rd.( Monklands AC)
However I understand teams from up here were taken to blackpool in previous years!!! Therefore guys with families need more than a couple of weeks notice to organise these trips.
many thanks

TF_AbiParticipantThank you for your comments.
I have been collecting the results for round 1 and am now just waiting for six results.
Richard Grange who does the draws for Supercup and deals with all the queries will be back in the office next week and he will do the draw. He has been out of the office for the past two weeks.
Sorry for the delay, the draw will be done as soon as possible. Richard is the best person to do the draw so we have decided to wait until he returns. Hope that’s ok and I appreciate your patience.
Thanks

TF_Neilhi Abi,
If the earliest that the draw will appear in the printed paper will be Tuesday 29th March, may I suggest that the draw be posted on the net at the earliest opportunity.
I appreciate that you want to sell copies of the paper but both home and away sides need to get things organised for an 8th May tie.
I really do feel that AT are bringing their own competition into disrepute and if I were a sponsor I’d be very unhappy with that possibility.

TF_CutnutDoes the Supercup draw really sell any more papers? I would hazard that most would just pick it up, check it, and put it back on the shelf.
Why not post which teams are dragging their heals on returning results? There’s bound to be at least one member of the forums that either fished with them or can prompt them into action.
waiting on one person to do the draw, doesn’t sound like a draw more a match making.

TF_AbiParticipantThe draw will be in next week’s paper – 29th March issue.
The late results have been/are being chased.
Hope that helps guys and we appreciate your patience.

TF_Pop-upSurely the draw could have been done with the teams who have yet to return results still involved? e.g. Barnicles A.C. vs. Some Village OR Little Town. Just like F.A. cup.
The late returns will make it extremely difficult to find venues that a) are free on 8th May (all the supercup home teams will looking for venues on same day) b) are free for 3 weekends before the event for practice. This seriously narrows down venues, especially in the closed season when only commercials are available.
Sorry for the rant but I just feel a little common sense should be used.
