TF_pelletpumpwhat margin elastic are people using for fish 3-10lbs?i have used many setups but never got set on a margin elastic. I have been using doubled up preston orginal 10 but feel its to heavy and sometimes it disturbs the peg by being to harsh.I was thinking of the purple hydro being better? Your views would be good

TF_mp.miloRed hydro set medium, you can lead the fish out with it,without spooking any others in the swim.

TF_mp.miloI dont have any problems with red to a fox series 2 18,just lift into the fish and lead it out.Mind you the fox are a bigger size than many on the market.
Been down the softer elastic route and couldnt get on with it when a proper fish turns up. -

SteveSI’ve been playing with double slip 10 the last few weeks, seems pretty good to me, not had any proper lumps on it yet tho (8lb biggest) so not 100% sold on it yet.

TF_dave brittainFor smaller carp black hydro on a puller but for 6-10lbs fish Orange Vespe Hollow Core to a size 16 Fox Series 2 or Extra Strong.
I don’t see the point in faffing about with small hooks when fishing margins for big carp. You have to be positive and maximise your chances of landing evey fish. there’s no point in putting 0.18-0.22 hook length on and then using a small hook and light elastic as everything should be balanced.
On the right peg with the right gear it’s easy to do 100lbs in the last hour or two of the match

TF_craigoFor a margin near snags I use red hydro tight – other than that, I’ve been trying double 10 and it seems good to land fish quickly.
On some shallow venues (where not just the margin is shallow and not too many snags) – I’ve found that fish can set off like the clappers and heavy gear results in too many hook pulls, a lighter soft set black hydro or even soft set double 8 has landed me more fish

TF_Col_WI like the Purple Hydro down the margins – zero issues with this set up so far.If it aint broke don’t try & fix it!
