FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 11/3/12
Last week 96 rods caught 325 fish for an average of 3.38.
It was another a good week despite the cold and windy conditions at the start of the week. The milder weather at the weekend saw fish moving to black Midges and even some early olives.
The biggest rainbow of the week was a 14lb 10oz fish caught by *Mark Quinney of Lapworth who was fishing the Park Meadow pool and he took it on a rubber Daddy Long Legs on a clear intermediate line. Mr T West of Coventry caught a 7lb 8oz rainbow in a six fish catch from a boat on Cocks Close and they all fell to a Cats Whisker fished on a sinking line. Paul Hanson of Nuneaton also used a Cats Whisker to tempt 11 fish to over 6lb whilst fishing catch and release from a boat on Cocks Close. Ian Phillips of Solihull took five and released a further six with fish to 6lb 10oz using a small Damsel Nymph fished on an intermediate line. On the Great Pool, Mr G Lloyd of Coventry had a 7lb rainbow in a five fish catch using small white Lures on a sinking line.
All of the pools are in good form at the moment. Cocks Close has been fishing well along the high bank and old boat jetty corner and the boat anglers are having the best of the action. On the Great Pool, the jetty bank is best fishing around 30 metres out and casting to the bank. Hall pool is best around the cattle drink and the far bank from the jetty is the favoured area.
Best patterns are Cats Whisker, Damsel Nymph, black and green Tadpoles, Bloodworm, black Buzzers, GRHE and Corixa.
The Fishery will hold its Spring Open bank competition on Saturday 14th April. This year Shakespeare fishing tackle has kindly sponsored the event and an array of tackle will be up for grabs. Entry cost is £25.00 which will include a two fish ticket and catch and release.
