Grafham Water
Fish week 659 (season 1,377) Returns 155(307) Rod average 4.25 (4.48)
Grafham Water has once again fished well for both bank and boat anglers with a very healthy rod average of 4.25 and 30% of the trout caught weighing 3lb and over. The biggest bag of the week was caught by boat angler David Dakers of Langham, Oakham. David weighed in a cracking 8 fish bag for 23lb 14oz and his heaviest fish was a Rainbow weighing 4lb 8oz. Best fish of the week was a 5lb 4oz Rainbow taken by B Burn of Buckden.
Bank anglers have had plenty of success at the beginning of the week by fishing fast sink lines with Cats Whisker or Montana boobies, damsel nymphs and black and green tadpoles, mainly from the north shore (Hill Farm, G Buoy, Marlow Stones and the Seat). As the week progressed floating lines with black or green buzzers and blood worm patterns fished slowly at either the Bowl or south Dam produced some superb fishing.
Boat anglers have also had a great week’s fishing – generally by fishing the north shore with Hill Farm, Hedge End, G and D buoys, Willows and the bowl and south dam. The most productive method for the boat anglers has been fast sink lines with cat whisker boobies, montanas, vivas, damsel nymphs and small black nymphs fished slow and hard on the bottom.
Brown trout are now in season. Anglers please remember that only one brown trout per visit is permitted this season.
