If you want to compete then you obviously do lots of preparation and tie lots of hooklenghs and rigs before you go down to Cornwall. Otherwise, you will be an also ran. The festival is fished by a lot of top boys and if you draw better than them you want to maximise your chance of beating them. You will not do so by tying your rigs up on the bank. You need to prepare properly and therefore increase your chances of competing. Kirsty and Clint usually do the draw on the Friday before the festival so the group draws should be up on the morning of the 13 th April. Your bait allowances are stated clearly in the pre festival material that Kirsty posted to you a couple of weeks ago. So prepare properly and have a good festival! 🙂

Kirsty will have emailed you with the rules – basically its 8 units of bait and they insist u use the preston tubs to enable them to judge this easily, as to your mix of bait that is a huge question and depends on venue, peg; how its fishing and your preferred ways of fishing. I always take my full allocation but it is very rare u would use it all – but you may need a mixture of baits to maximise your chances. u are asked to use their pellets but I take my own meat / casters/ worms. I take at least a gallon of casters and 1.5 kilo of worms for the week; though Id only expect to use these if I had not drawn all that well – lake winning tactics generally revolve around pellets and meat.
You deffo need to prepare though on the on site matches- pollawyn, twin oaks, trelawney and jennies u may have time to knock a rig up on the day.

You will need plenty of different types of rigs and i know i wouldn’t be confident of having to tie them all the bank. I would also do plenty of hooklengths.
