Ringstead Catch Report To April 9th, 2012
Overview
Fantastic sport has been had by many anglers this week on boat and bank alike with boat anglers achieving catches of up to 30 fish featuring browns as well as the resident rainbows. The weekly stocking policy is now really paying off as fish are distributed around the whole of the lake in good numbers.
Mr Quartly of London and Mr Fraser of Houghton Conquest both reached high numbers of fish from the boats on various patterns including damsels, claret hoppers and black nymphs which has been particularly successful this week in its various forms.Best fish this week went to regular local season ticket holder Mr Phil Robinson from Raunds who returned a lovely rainbow around the 7lb mark.Other catches featured rainbows in the 3-4lb class with a sprinkling of browns up to 21/4lb of which most were returned..
Plenty of fly hatches on the better days and these have been mostly Chironomid species in black, grey and brown hence buzzers accounting for the majority of fish.
The regular stocking is now bringing the fishery stock levels well up giving very good sport all around the lake to boat and bank anglers alike.
66 anglers caught 320 rainbows and 30 browns with 158 rainbows and 23 browns being safely returned.
