FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 29/4/12

Last week 67 rods caught 307 fish for an average of 4.58.

For those brave enough to go out in the appalling weather the fishing was superb last week.

The big brown of 19lb 8oz in Cocks Close put in another appearance caught by Mr Alfredo of Reading who was using hired tackle from the lodge and he caught it on a Humungus pattern fished on a floating line which also accounted for a rainbow weighing in at 8lb 2oz whilst fishing from the bank of Cocks Close. Arthur Topp of Stretton caught a 8lb 8oz rainbow whilst fishing from a boat on the Great Pool, he used a Montana Nymph fished on a floating line. John Considine of Leicester caught and released from the bank of Cocks Close, ten fish all between 3 – 8lb which fell to various Lures fished on a floating line. Dave Robinson of Solihull caught five fish to 7lb and returned a further six whilst fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and these all fell to a Gold Head Damsel fished on a floating line. David Bevan of Birmingham fished from a boat on the Hall Pool and caught six fish to 4½lb on black Buzzer with a tiny Goldhead.

The best patterns are Damsel Nymph, black or white Lures, Buzzers, Bloodworm, Diawl Bach, GRHE and Montana Nymph.

All of the pools are fishing really well but the heavy rain will colour the Great Pool which can slow sport down. On Cocks Close the road bank, sand bank and high bank areas are all fishing well.
