FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 6/5/12
Last week 124 rods caught 503 fish for an average of 4.05.
The fishing has been excellent this week with fish up in the water and moving well on all pools.
A lot of fish are being caught in the 3 – 6lb range and the best fish of the week was a 10lb 8oz rainbow caught by Arthur Topp of Stretton upon Dunsmore who was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and caught it on a Damsel Nymph fished on a floating line. Tom Dixon of Coleshill fished from a boat on the Hall Pool and caught rainbows of 7lb 8oz and 6lb 12oz plus others at 3lb and these all fell to a Cats Whisker fished on a sinking line. Harold Lewis of Knowle caught eight fish on Bloodworm and Diawl Bach including one at 8lb 8oz while fishing on Cocks Close from a boat. Mr Wiltshire of Sutton Coldfield fished catch and release on Cocks Close and caught nine fish to 8½lb using orange Fritz and small dry Mayfly. Derek Bolton of Meriden fished on the Great Pool and caught 10 fish to 6lb on small Diawl Bach fished on a floating line.
All of the pools are in fine form with the colour going out of Great Pool and Hall Pool now. The best areas have been the road bank and high bank of Cocks Close, the dam wall and middle on Great Pool and dam wall area on the Hall pool.
Top patterns are Cats Whisker, Gold Head Damsel, black or olive Buzzers, Bloodworm, Diawl Bach and GRHE Nymphs.
