TF_JohnHI bought the Tounament pro x last year. It was £500 cheaper than the Arity at the time. The only difference was in the spares package, particularly extra number 4 sections, (which I didnt need.)

TF_AnthonywatersParticipantYou get shit loads of spares with the Airity, ive had mine 4 years and Ive got numerous topkits and 4 s Ive never used so I get what Johns saying

TF_GLEBE1I don’t agree with John h’s post i had a play on the bank with a pro x and satisfied myself that now Daiwa had improved the finish id buy one.
I went to a tackle shop with cash on the hip to get a deal, whilst there out of interest I asked to put the Airity up against it.For me there was enough of a difference to leave the shop empty handed and return when I’d found the extra for an Airity, I haven’t regretted it one bit. 🙂

TF_Fred DavisNow I must admit I still use a spectrum however I have a lot of mates who have upgraded their own poles and occasionally have a waggle as I am constantly thinking of upgrading I have the cash it’ just that it doesn’t want to leave my hand every time I try to part with it, it refuses to leave, having kept looking and holding the various upgrades my mates have purchased I think their is more droop in the tourny pro X than the airity, In fact I am not as impressed with the new tourny pro x as I was with the old one, it just looks less stiff, it maybe just as stiff or stiffer but it looks less stiff in use, anyone else think this?

23/05/2012 at 5:11 pm #159031
TF_macky1in my opinion the tourny pro X is not a 2k+ worth of pole, and the airity IS a 2800k pole
the diffrence is easy noticable!, worth every penny

TF_carpa22ParticipantI have the latest airity and have to agree with cutnut and macky the new airity is a very very good top end pole, mind you not to impressed with the interelastic top 2s have just done mine as standard puller kits using the bottom hole, also replaced the bbks on the interelastics with the match No2s you can see and feel the difference straight away at long lengths.

Bloody hell Fred! How do you manage with such limited memory on your spectrum to even get on the internet…impressive bit of kit and ahead of it’s time though. No wonder you keep thinking of upgrading it….. 🙂

TF_JohnHJust had a look on the Daiwa web site to see if I could find the key differences.
The Arity is made from high modulus 100t carbon and the Pro X…. Daiwa dont say!!
Unless I have missed it.
When I bought my X, having had the Pro for several years, with loads of spares, the guy at the shop assurred me that the only difference was in tha spares package. I did not have a waggle with the Arity but if I recall the improved Arity came out later with the slip painted 12m 14m and 16m sections. Certainly the Arity has loads of extra spares especially no4 sections which retail about £80 each. If I recall there was at least 4 of them, so £320 on the pole price for sections not needed.
The pole I bought was ordered by my retailer from Daiwa so he was not palming off some old stock.
I respect what others have posted and dont argue the X is better than the Airty, maybe it is a slightly inferior pole. -

TF_moto46well I have just purchased a Daiwa Connouseur G20 pole and I absolutely love it !!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

TF_RhinoStill not seen anything to better my Colmic x5000 (not held the Z12 though!). IMO its stronger and slimmer than a diawa and doesnt come apart! Airity may be a touch lighter and more responsive at 16m but its marginal; finish is similar on each pole – you need to clean the corn and meat juice off any pole for it not to stick! lol!

TF_JohnHCarpa22, your prices sum up what I posted in my first post on this thread. 4 extra no4 @£160 was about the price difference between the Arity and X package when I bought mine.
Great if you fish lots of deep venues where you need top 4 kits, I dont. -

TF_baitchefParticipantEbay the 4’s and buy match kits. 😉

TF_iansi01354Nice day, no wind fishing 13-14m there aint much in it with same tops on imho
Not so nice day, some wind fishing 13-14m you know there is a differance (you’ll never see it in the shop though!)
Longer than 14m wind or no wind you can feel the difference
The real debate is, is the difference in cash worth the difference in performance!
I had the TP and upgraded after years of great use to the Airity but sold the long No4’s, the holdall and all but 2 of the bigbores and bought short 4, 17.7m ext and match tops to suit my fishing…………other manufacturers do better mix n match packages but the pole itself flagship and well proven as the TP was.

TF_JohnHVery good post Ian I can see where you are coming from. Clearly in the shop you cant tell. Just a thought, if you use the phex half extension on the Arity 16m section, I think your pro 16m section will fit onto it and will be just as good as the extension Daiwa sell.
Costs me a fortune coming on here as I now think I bought the wrong pole!!!
-
25/05/2012 at 10:42 am #159107
TF_GLEBE1If you put the half butt on the 16m section that’s yer lot you ain’t going any longer, its got a male joint on both ends so the only thing that would fit is the arse end of the 12.7m section.
-
25/05/2012 at 11:09 am #159108
TF_JohnHSure my half ext has male and female ends and I have extended beyond 16m using it. I will have a look when I get home and remind myself how I did it.

John 16m sections are parallel so you can mix n match airity, pro, pro x, diawa ext etc etc all the way to 20m+ if you want straight up the back of the 16m……its the finish thats better on the Ext than the original TP when shipping that bleeding long…..I have 2 now!!
Half ex has two ends (clearly!!) but ones for back of 12.7m and then the other fits 14.4m or anything past as they are parallel.
You aint bought the wrong pole, the TPX is a mega peice of kit but if you want to know why the Airity is better its only towards the extremes i.e. length and wind. That said try an Airty at 16m with red hyro in a big bore vs a TPX with solid 6 in a MT3 and you’d buy the TPX every time!!
I had my original TP for years and used and abused it…great pole and was well ahead of its time, not sure the Airity is that iconic, its v.v.good but so are many flagships today.

TF_GamagreenPersonally I don’t think Daiwa poles have moved on a lot since they launched the Tourny pro and they have now been caught up by some of the other makes.
I have to make a choice next month on what to get next, been doing a lot of research picked up ALL the latest models and the one that has stood out for me is the GMAX M1, a few of the lads at lindholme have been using them and there have been no reports of the middle sections going as on previous models. Thought it was stiffer ( at a proper 16 metres not 15.2!) and felt easily as strong as the airily.
Couldn’t fault the pro really good all rounder, but as I say the others HAVE caught up, don’t be blinkered.

AnonymousAnything with daiwa written on it now seems to be far too expensive as an example theyve just brought a new 3m keepnet out for £79.99!!! An airity goretex suit needs a mortgage taken on it to buy it!!! Since whens a keepnet been worth £80 quid of my hard earned money…overpriced daiwa seem to have a queue of tackle tarts waiting, Got the branding correct i think 🙂

TF_JohnHThanks Ian, you are quite correct of course the Pro 16m section fits the X 16m no problem. Sorry Glebe for confusion with half ext, it does have 2 male ends and as you say only fits the 12m section when in the x 16m. However the reason for my confusion was Iknew I had had my old pro up to 20m using it BUT I was using TDP412 16m sections which do fit the half ext.

Not sure thats 100% fair, agree some of their kit is expensive but very good, some is over-priced and not briliiant, some is mid priced and good value for money. I have kit from most manufacturers as I find what suits me and brand doesn’t really drive my decision its functionality.
I reckon you could say the same about most middle / high end manufacturers to be honest….the only exception that immediately springs to mind is Drennan. I can’t think of anything particularly over priced, I don’t use all their stuff but its not over-priced imho of course.
