Whatever the weather has done there are plenty of fish surface feeding at Elinor. However they were harder to tempt in a strong wind from the boats when presentation was difficult.
Catches are steady from the bank and greatly improve when there is cloud cover. It is the boats though that are getting the best success. Dries or wets fished right in the surface are doing well with wet or dry hoppers worth a try.
With the surface layer cooler and more oxygenated than usual for the time of year the fish are staying in the top three foot for most of the day.
Warmer conditions will see the damsel take over as the main food source for much of the day.
The evening rise brings sedges onto the menu as well as the tiny olive midges that the trout have been fixated on in recent weeks.
