TF_JohnHAs I type this we are in the midst of a thunderstorm with heavy rain. 3 days ago my weatherman told me its the 3rd wettest June on record, 2007 was the worst when many parts of this region were underwater. This follows a very wet May and the wettest April on record!! I can cast my mind back to the first festival of the year at Whiteacres in March when it was mid 20s and sunny.
Just what is going on? We had almost no rain all winter.
The poor farmers just wont know which season its supposed to be. -

Same here in Sunny Leicester!!
We spent an hour bailing water out of our workshop and when the storm passed EVERY car in the carpark was peppered with dents from hailstones the size of walnuts including one of the lads brand new Beamer!!
No one I’ve spoken to has ever seen anything like it -

TF_JohnHThis happened to a friend last year on holiday in France, the dents can be repaired quite cheaply.

.No rain/hail/snow/frogs/cats/dogs or other precipitation here in sunny Suffolk yesterday.
As to what is going on, it is just a normal year of British weather. Some years are hot/cold/cool or whatever, others dry/wet or average. That is why we get averages and occasionally records. As ‘records’ only go back a couple of hundreds years at most even breaking them is nothing special in terms of British weather over the years though perhaps they may seem exceptional in terms of lifetimes, especially short ones 🙂

TF_JohnHStatistics show June was wettest for over 100 years, records started 1910. It was also the dullest. The three months April-June were also the wettest on record, not surprising as April was also the wettest month on record.
Looks like July is picking up where June left off with no change in sight “for weeks” according to the BBC weather centre.
Lets hope things pick up when the schools break up later this month.
The only moan I have read about from farmers is the brocolli crop is suffering!! -

TF_orexinaYou fools……..its GLOBAL WARMING. We’re all going to die!!!!!
But don’t worry I can save you all but you have to pay more green taxes.
As said it looks good for the rivers though. The Bristol Avon has a good flow and colour so looking good for the National.

TF_JohnHJuly has certainly picked up where June left off. Its tipping it down here today with flooding forecast. I think some around us maybe having it worse than us. The rivers around here may be unsafe to fish this weekend.
I was at Mallory yesterday and the ground is sodden, it was steamy hot until it tipped it down about 8 oclock. -
