When fishing the straight lead, have you tried pinning the hooklength down and did it make a difference??

I was fishing Stafford Moor last week & did try popping up the pellet hookbait. I balanced it with a No.4 shot. This worked!

I’m using style weights and my theory is to have the hooklength in a straight line from the lead, rather than just lying in a heap. Im thinking this direction might lead to a few more bites because of the directness, im fishing over gravel and possibly a bit of silt. Any thoughts?

Maybe one of hook lengths that the carp anglers use would be the answer. I think it’s called stiff rig!
Fluro carbon (grand max riverge) from a game fishing outlet would keep it straighter.
A dacron hooklength would fall in a more orderly fashion.
Try it in a tank of water. I’d be interested to know what you decide upon.
                Regards Peter
