I’ve been looking for some reasonable big pit reels, I’m not a tackle brand focused angler, if you know what I mean, I just want some for a reasonable cost.

What would you recommend?

I’ve seen the TFG big pit reel, well spec’d, £33, the Michell Avospod for about the same price.
Anyone got experience with either of these reels? Or an alternative?

Most big pit reels can be adjusted to be quick drag as well by removing the springs, so, no need to look for any particular feature.

Before anyone mentions Emblem 5000s reels, I’m not exactly sold on them, they may be tried n tested but their nearly twice as expensive as the previously mentioned reels. And, it’s not the brand of reels that catches big fish, I’ve been catching large fish on my set of a £29.99 Okuma Interceptor 65’s for the last 5 years but it’s time for a change – their finally showing signs of wear.
