TF_moto46I have recieved today my new Matrix Superbox and im extremely impressed. I have been using a Preston Innovations Limited Edition On box for the past year and a half and have owned a Daiwa Tournament, Matchbox and Watercraft etc but this Matrix box is superb in comparison.
Even though I looked at it in the shop I didnt really appreciate how well made it is and the quality of the parts until today. They are not cheap but well worth the investment cant wait to use it at the weekend 🙂P.S the service from Fosters was superb, well reccomended

TF_paulDI swapped a Rive for a Fox MSB and liked it a lot. The matrix must be the same quality and looks similar. I had a few tray catches break but i had that on the rive aswell. Changed it last month for a maver MXi a big mistake and its going on ebay soon.
Think i might go back to a Rive. Got rid of it cos it was so heavy but once you get it to your peg i dont think they can be beat. Might try the version which is just trays with no frame as theres so much space wasted with the ST type boxes. -

TF_Man of KentThe problem is that, unlike the MSB Euro Box, there’s no independent seat height adjustment from the footplate, so the only way you can change the height is by adding or removing trays. For a box/frame in this price range I would expect this level of flexibility.

be careful doing this – in my experience, I added a couple of units to a C30 and the frame of the units eventually warped and came loose at the corners – the draws would stick or fall out. I often wondered what the purpose of the wheel chair type frame around the Rives served – obviously it stabilises the whole structure of the box if you want to carry several layers – I moved to MSB which is same concept but a bit heavier but at least the units dont warp and come apart at the corners

This is an excellent point and one that continuously holds me back from buying a new box.
I’m 6′ 2″ and there is now way I’m buying any box that can only be adjusted by adding or removing trays etc.
Its a bit of a nonsense to be honest and a shame because i liked the Matrix box.
Any footplate on any box HAS to be independent as far as I’m concerned, to tailor your specific needs. -

TF_PaddyWhat Baitchef said.
I’m 6′ 5″ tall and adding units to get comfortable to these heights would be daft.
Still looks a great box for little people though! 😮 -

Thanks for the advice Craigo. Im a bit heavy on gear anyway so will have to rethink.
I thought you could adjust the seat height on the new daiwa box ? mind you its an ugly looking thing and weighs more than Rive.
Have you noticed that most of the boxes are almost the same and use the same bits like knobs ? I bet they are all made in the same factory in India or China.

I have the C30 and I’m split 50/50 on whether to sell and buy an ST. The pro’s are that it’s very very light even with the footplate attached. Con’s – it’s so light that when I attach my sidetray (Preston with slide under tray) and put groundbait in the tray I’ve had the box topple over – you have to add additional trays to increase the weight of the box or counter balance it with something on the other side! Another issue is when you have the footplate attached, if you stand on the footplate whilst opening the box, sometimes the footplate hinge will fold in the middle and send you flying. You have to place your weight towards the end of the footplate if that makes sense.
Anyone want to buy a C30 LOL ?

Any footplate on any box HAS to be independent as far as I’m concerned, to tailor your specific needs.I dont agree with the commets raised by the taller anglers.
The MSB / Super box does not need many trays / units added to gain the perfect fishing height…… most anglers want to add the additional storage.
If its down to weight of box or cost – then just dont carry as many trays under the frame!!
Im 6ft and i only have 1 additional shallow tray added above the frame and its perfect….. both in storage and my fishing position.Boxes with floating frame systems i.e Milo 1100 pro, Colmic ONE, Daiwa 302 (i think it is) are heavier than the fixed frame type boxes due to all the extra construction involved.
Footplates that adjust up and down “independent” are nowhere near as stable or strong as FIXED footplates (ones that are built into the frame)But each to their own!!! lol

I concur with the above, I’m 6’2″ and have a couple of extra trays on my ST that i need for storage that sit above the frame, this means my seat is set in the correct position in relation to my footplate permanently. It doesn’t matter what terrain my box is set up on im sat in exactly the same position every time.
