TF_BanjoParticipantI assume we are talking here about the SiWi Quadbox. It looks an interesting piece of kit. I do like the idea of having only four legs as opposed to the ‘normal’ six.
I am on the lookout myself for a new box for 2013 and wouldn’t mind a closer look at it.
Fosters of B’ham show them + accessories on their website. Don’t know if they or anyone else have them in stock? There was one for sale on flEbay.
And I have heard some Milo/ Colmic seat box accessories/ drawer units are interchangeable with the Quadbox? More than likely all made at the same place/ factory I’d guess?

TF_wightanglerread somewhere, the quadboxes are made by Milo or the bloke who build his usually- so might explain it,
seems Maver have one very similar coming out. -

TF_pepThe boxes are made by MIKY who used to make the boxes for MILO before they went the china way,so you might see a couple of brands like maver etc use him as the design is spot on for something new in the seat box world, sat on the quad box a while back and if i wanted a new box this would be it

TF_moto46Ive had a good look at these in Angling Direct Norwich and they are really well made, stable and solid. Went for a Matrix Superbox though as was much lighter and compact and the quality is superb 🙂 .

TF_CutnutWill be interesting to see how they take to the pressure of the average Lardy Boy standing up on the footplate. There must be a substantial bit of metal supporting that sliding footplate where the box corner leg would have been.

TF_kev825Just had a look at both boxes on-line and the Quadbox looks better IMO and a much better price too. Be interesting to see how interchangeable the box is with Rive accessories etc.

TF_toplightsLooks a good box, with a well respected angler consulting on its manufacture, just a couple of buts in my mind.
I notice this box has a 30mm leg that may cause problems when it comes to accesories.
Bulkier geezers may also have a problem with it,i recon i would for one. -

TF_wightanglerre ” 30mm leg that may cause problems when it comes to accesories.”
The new PI spacestation mk.3 has 30mm legs and apparently all pi existing accessories will fit without the inserts.

TF_craigmYes the Preston accessories will fit 30mm legs if you remove the inserts, they fit Colmic seat boxes 30mm legs – Colmic also do a good range of 30mm accessories.

TF_Waveney OneLooking at the box SiWi, my first impression is that 4 legs cannot possibly be as stable as 6. Also whilst there are still a few venues that I fish where there are natural banks most, including all the commercials, have platforms. So the claim that they are easier to set up on the bank is pushing it a little in my view.
However, Chris Vanderfleit (and he is pretty sturdy although not fat) has bought one I know and he is impressed. I have heard of one or two weight challenged people who have tested the footplate by jumping on it and have not seen any problems so my first impressions may be displaced. Presumably you need to put the weight of the box onto the back feet when extending the footplate. That means that it must slide in and out very easily. How do you make it so strong in that area?
The rest of the box looks good.

TF_SiwiThe stability can only really be appreciated by sitting on the box rather than looking at a photo, it is really stable due to the strength of the type of aluminium alloy used in the construction combined with the design. But really you need to sit on it, its quite a surprise to see how solid it really is. Four legs are a lot quicker to set up on most banks as you have less adjustments to make, obviously this comes more into play on uneven banks or platforms but you don’t have any reason to need the middle legs in any case. If you are on natural venues or for instance get in the water its much easier. Hope that answers your questions.

TF_BennoParticipantHi Simon. Me & my mate are looking at new seat boxes but haven’t been able to find a QUAD box to look at in Rotherham / Sheffield. The design looks great however we are wondering if we will get 2 boxes & all holdalls in an estate car?

thanks Simon, I will have a look and sit on Chris’s next time I see him. I’ll let him jump on the footplate though LOL
