TF_gibbo77just wondered what floats people like the most and for what use?
would say may favorites are MW diamond for fishing meat on 5m line, MW Pea for UITW,
carpa chimp for fishing on snake lakes with small baits but my favorite is the maver slotty for paste fishing.started using the slotty this year and found it great for cat meat and paste which i use alot.
interested to hear peoples opinions and maybe other people will get to know different floats limitations and positives

TF_AnthonywatersParticipantHillbilly Shindig .4 for everything on the bottom and NG Hayfield for margin and shallow, I do have lots of other pattern floats but thats what I have used for 90 % of my fishing so far this year,The Shindig is the best float ever made there a long bristle but the float itself is slim and tidy you can trim them right down then if the wind gets up and your struggling to see bites, loose a no 11 and you have 2 cm of bristle visible, brilliant.

TF_gibbo77yeah i have heard of people using the shindig for paste due to its long bristle as well. the slotty i found to be very versatile with its long bristle, very stable float on waters that tow like hallcroft.
it is amazing how anglers become attached to a certain few patterns.

TF_CriagH66Drennan Roach – carbon stem.
Silvers up in the water on natural venues and commercials in the smaller sizes 4 No 8 & 4 No 10 with strung out 11’s and 12’s or on the deck with spread bulk and droppers in the 4 No12 and 4 No 14.
Even used down the track on snakes in winter for fishing maggot, caster and pellet.Used the 0.5g and 0.75g for fishing pellets and meat long on calm days in winter/spring on light rigs in deep water.
Classic pattern and so versatile. Wouldn’t be without them.
Always add a thin coat of varnish before using as a tendency to take on water on a long session.

TF_baitchefParticipantMy favourite 2 patterns of all time are the Preston chianti for deck fishing and the Drennan caster for shallow fishing. However they both need a serious coat or three of clear nail varnish otherwise if you just breath on them they fall to bits.
My favourite margin float is the Nick Gilbert xtreme margin. These are pretty much indestructible under 99% of situations.
My favourite paste float is a new pattern, handmade by a chap at our local (Milemead).
I have never used a float that instantly felt so right. They are brilliant. -

TF_nick2bUp-in-the-water roach fishing – Tubertini Styx in 4×8, wire eyes can tend to pull out easily though. They sell them up to 4×16 – can’t imagine where you would ever use them this big!

TF_missabiteI use preston chianti for meat, corn and pellet on the deck. I use chianti for paste fishing. If the water is deep I’ll use a bigger chianti and in the margins I’ll use a smaller chianti. For shallow fishing I’ll use whatever float is the cheapest.
