Firstly i would not consider buying a maver pole & secondly if i was buying a pole it would be from a local tackle shop not ebay.

I personally would never buy another Maver pole – no company can spend this much on R&D and release a new product range on such a regular basis [in Mavers case every 12 months] and make a profit, will no doubt be last years models just repainted with different graphics.

The problem is that they will be selling this pole in 12 months time for half the ssp just to shift the old stock to make way for the new stock, hardly inspires confidence

Always amuses me the hate for maver poles,,, could always start the big pole debate again, daiwa comin apart, Garbo cracking, browning too long…… They are doing something right if he can afford the guts o 60 grand for match this!!!!
Oh I av an old 371 and will wait for a good deal on an elite88 in the near future and mayb an elite carp too for some hauling

matt there was an elite 88 went on ebay for £1320 the other day with loads of spares hardly used and in absolutely mint condition and thats the probelem they don’t hold there value because a new model means that there all singing and dancing pole is redundant after a year, no one is saying that the poles arn’t any good, some of there poles are very good however in the past they had a reputation for big joints just snapping in half for no reason (especially in the winter) or the joints wearing out in next to no time, now the poles seem to have overcome these problems and yes they sell shed loads however the truth is they are superceeded to quickly and don’t hold there value.

Years back when I worked in the trade I used to sell Maver poles and they always looked good and were light and stiff compared to other brands so sold well. However a fair proportion of those sold came back with cracks or splits and even a fair few snapped sections.
Now don’t get me wrong some of this would certainly be down to user error and rough handling but not all of it. In my view the carbon is thin to help achieve the lightness but this doesnt help with fish getting bigger all the time in commercials.
I wonder if this has been sorted out nowdays (my last pole was a Sensas and current pole is a Daiwa G20 both superb in my view) so not looked at the Mavers for a while. Im not anti Maver they do some great products and I love my Maver Reactorlite match rod and the poles may well be harder wearing nowadays. I do think they should leave the poles on the market for longer periods before bringing out new models as it really de values the previous versions.

Been a bad year for tackle shops. Use it or lose it cos you cant but maggots etc mail order.

With new poles every year how do Maver keep up with all the spares? How can a pole become obsolete after 1 year, even Man U shirts last longer than that.

Speak to a Pole repairer they love em 🙂
