I am selling a custom made centre-pin which I bought directly from the maker after seeing it at a speci angling show sometime in the mid 90’s.

It is a 5″ reel and I have made a very minor modification to the reel seat by filing about 1/8″ of an inch off the width on one end to get it to fit in the reel fittings on one of my rods. It has a braking mechanism on it and is in excellent condition.

Today I have given it a few good spins and it revolves for over a minute each time with the brake off completely, even a gentle start keeps the drum revolving very smoothly. (I showed this reel to Proper Tidal Boy last weekend and he said it runs better than his Adcock Stanton). In case it is not clear from the centre badge it says “Freespin – Ball Race Centre”.

It is a lovely reel for use with a rod on the river and with the breaking mechanism or using thumb pressure is perfect for fishing the margins with pole rigs for big carp like at Gold Valley.
