Saw Steve ringer on tight lines using floats that he had cut down. If u cut down a hollow tipped float do u need to seal it up or can u just leave it open?

Hi, I have doctored loads of floats over the year’s and in my experience they do not take on water because it creates a vacuum in the hollo in the float bristle, but if your not confident in this use a blob of glue as said in other replays.

Shipo is spot on there is no need to seal the tips. I certainly never have and they dont take on any water.

I see the logic in this as sometimes even a number 12 buries a float and cutting a few mm of the bristle would pay dividends, a good idea maybe to butcher a float to how you like it and ask your floatmaker to produce them to that spec.
