FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 13/1/13

Last week there were 64 rods caught 168 fish for an average of 2.62.

A much better week with plenty of fish moving on the top and being caught to a variety of tactics. Black or green Lures, Cats Whiskers or Minkies fished on an intermediate line has been a very affective tactic. Buzzer and Bloodworm patterns fished under an indicator has also scored well and even dry flies are accounting for a few fish this week.

The best fish of the week was a 14lb rainbow caught by Mick Hanson of Nuneaton who was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and he took it on a black Tadpole fished on an intermediate line. John Considine of Leicester fished from the bank on Cocks Close and caught and released eight fish with the biggest estimated at 10lb+ and these fell to a green and white Gold Headed Lure fished on a sinking line. Ray Inman of Birmingham continues his good form with the big fish, catching a 9lb 5oz rainbow in a four fish catch taken on Cats Whisker. Harold Pritchett of Mancetter fished the members’ water Park Meadow and caught a total of 11 fish to 7lb which all fell to a Damsel Nymph fished on a floating line.

The best areas have been the high bank and around the middle willows on Cocks Close with the middle of the pool best on Park Meadow. The members’ waters, Great Pool and Hall Pool are looking much better now the colour has started to drop out and should be fishable very soon.
