Hi , new to the forum

Just replaced my 5 year old tardis box with a new MXi series 4 ES maver,
The new box is doing an excellent job , EXEPT, a fell a**e over t**s and inches from landing into 7 feet of freezing water because two of the self locking adjustable legs decided not to self lock. I took box back to the shop and they promptly replaced all six legs with the old style legs ( ie- the new ones have smooth coating as opposed to the rough coating )
It appears to have cured the problem ( ie- I have not drowned as yet 😀 ).
Question is, has anybody here had the same problem with these new box legs

What exactly do you mean by ‘self-locking’ Middi ? Was it the extending part of the leg that slipped or the main leg itself ? The reason I ask is that I looked at those boxes at the Big One show last week and cannot see how they can be called self locking and haven’t seen them called that in any of their advertising !
The fact the new legs are smooth should have no bearing as you tighten up by means of a handwheel which in turns locks the leg with a non-marking block.

Yes, Steve, it was the extending part of the legs that collapsed, Unlike the main leg which is held in situe by a hand screw, the extending section is released from the locked position by holding down a spring loaded ” flap” lever and when this smal lever is released the inner leg is then locked in that position. To release or readjust the inner leg the small lever is pressed down and the whole operation is repeated as required.
It was the ” self locking” operation ( when the lever was released) that was faulty.
The salesman tested it himself and said that this never used to happen when the legs were rough cast ( the newer boxes have smoother legs).
I agree with you that if the ” self locking ” system works it should make no difference and this is the main reason why I asked the forum for their comments and experiences with these new type legs.
Let us hope that it was just my bad luck, and maybe my box was made on a late friday afternoon 😉
              Thanks for commenting

Had the same problem exactly with the old model mx3500 box. Then the seat went then the footplate snapped because of the flex with the trolley arms on. I notice on the new box the trolley arms fit on the footplate legs and the front legs of the box. 😡
