The lake is gradually clearing and the fishing improving by the day with the rod average now just shy of 4. Visibility is now 12-14 inches.
On most days sport has been better after 10am. The water is still very cold so a slow retrieve is best. Along with the early season lures a few fish are being taken on nymphs, hares ear and black diawl bach are worth using on a dropper.
Usually the bank fishing outscores boats at this time of year but good catches are coming from open water as well as the margins.
On less cold days there are a few fish rising to minute black buzzers. Bigger fish are feeding now the water clarity has improved.
