Thinking of buying a new pole, is the AIR really worth a grand more than the ARITY?
I fish mostly commercials at lengths from down the edge to 16mtrs, never past this, had a waggle with both and honestly think that the AIR feels better, (stiffer) but is it worth the extra?, any comments greatfully recieved.

If I had the spare cash I would get one.

It’s all relative, yes it’s better and yes it’s £1k more due to the materials, development and probably marketing but is it right for you?

It’s a little like asking is the BMW M3 better and worth more than a fully spec’d top end 3series they are all engineered differently and have different pluses and go faster , corner better, cost more etc

for poles its longer and lighter and stiffer but at the top end on poles the differential is marginal in my opinion.

I would try as many as you can, consider what fishing you do, the spares you get and get the best you can afford, doesn’t matter if its Daiwa, Garbo, sensas tricast, maver, MAP, Middy, Browning they are all now doing great top end poles and you’ll get lots of contrasting views on here.

ironically saw a good southern angler named Lee Woodhouse fishing at 17.5 with one of those Daiwa Tournament 710 that retailed at £7.5K over a decade ago.
We were at Hordle and he was catching far bank small carp on (what i presume) was white hydro.

Both and the pole were impressive to watch. That pole was really arrow straight and i noticed when wandering past beforehand – that the actual butts and ext. were unbelievably slender – about the same as a normal no. 7 in diameter.
He was bagging (think he had 62lb on the day)and despite what i’ve since read the pole didnt look particularly fragile.

              Incredible pole!

I once saw somebody using a 710 at Stafford moor when it first opened. 200+ weights then.

It is relative though, good advice to try them all out.

Then just get the Daiwa. 😀

its worth it if yer got more money than sense and yeah it is better than the airity,
but not over a grand better !

If you like it and can afford it, get one, you’ll regret getting a lesser model.

Is it worth the money, you could ask that about any pole. If we all had to fish with sub £1000 poles we’d still catch plenty of fish, so why spend more. Because we can and want the best, (or at least what we think is the best).

If I had the money I would get one, I can’t afford one, so the G10 will have to do for a bit longer.

I firmly believe that manufactures of poles etc are becoming a hell of a lot better at catching us than we are at catching more fish with their expensive and never ending variety of gear. There are a few very keen anglers out there that have the disposable income to buy very top end gear and these are the anglers that are targetted by the manufacturers.
As to weather it is worth the extra money? It definetely is if youcan afford it. If anything it will make you psycologically happier fisherman which may lead to you catching more fish.

hi guys, have read all the threads, just like to say,all the top of the range poles are brilliant !,its just a matter of preference and mainly your budget. if you had the money for a ferrari or porsche, you wouldn’t settle for a ford. its also down to wether you can justify paying the large price tags of top of the range poles, not forgetting their resale value.
in my own opinion the best way to judge which poles are best for your own style of fishing on the venues that you visit,is to notice which poles are being used by other anglers around you.
getting back to the main topic “Daiwa Air/Airity”. i have seen the browning Z12 ,yes its awesome and a brilliant spares package, the maver elite 88 another brilliant pole, with a great spares package, garbolino M1 another great pole,i could go on for ages !!
its all about your own style of fishing.
thanks to the ppi god ,i was able to be in a lucky position to buy which ever pole i wanted.
i spent alot of time checking out all of the top of the range poles, and in the end i bought the “Air”.
my reasons ..No 1.. i fish canals all the time, and once you go past 13 metres ,there is no pole better than the Air. the balance of this pole at length is amazing.its recovery after the strike is unbelievable.
all poles feel great sitting in a tackle shop bouncing them around, its when you fish with them and catch fish(hopefully) thats when you can feel how good the balance is.
No 2..10 top kits..4 power kits and 6 match kits.. top 3 match kits £125 retail .. shop around you can get some deals..
No 3 ..the re sale value of Daiwa poles(in my opinion) is miles better than any other manufacturer.(especially their tournament poles..tourny pro x,airity etc..)
comparing the “Air” to the “Airity.” ? ive only had the Air for 4 weeks, when i first used it,two of the anglers in our team have got Airity’s, so they both were eager to have a play with the Air..they were both of the same opinion.. because of its stiffness ,balance and recovery rate, and this is their opinion, when fishing with the Air,it feels a section better than the Airity and stronger..
i hope this can give you some guidance towards which pole you end up buying. in my opinion ..if you ve got the money ,buy the best ,which for my style of fishing ,is definately the Air. IMO the “best pole on the market” 🙂
                          regards Westy

Thanks to all of you who posted replies to this, some points made that I had not considered!, to be fair and unfortunately it will come down to price, and for that reason alone I will go for the ARITY, would be a stretch for the AIR and I dont think I can justify the extra grand, have used an ARITY that I borrowed from a mate in a couple of matches in the past and was very impressed with it, so I dont think I will be “second besting” hopefully just an informed purchase as it will have to last a while! 🙂

Absolutely right, manufacturers have this nasty habit of producing their ” best one ever made ” pole every year and, more times that not, on a different mandrel. in order to suck punters into the ” best and latest gear”. All credit to them and wish them a good marketing and profitable future. The reality is that in 99% of the time it is is the angler’s skill that does the damage not their expensive gear. Obviously if you combine the two on a good peg nobody else stands a chance. This is the way things have evolved in ” our game” and maybe it is a good thing for the sport in the long run,

If you’ve decided; good job and the Airity will be great.
I’ve gone for the Air recently from the Pro and Pro X and I have to say it is the best piece of kit re a pole that I’ve every had the pleasure to handle. It knocks spots of any other pole I’ve every used and from top of range Tricasts and Daiwa’s – it is just supreme (I don’t use Browning so can’t comment on that)
Only used it 3 times yet on commercials in last 3 weeks with Spring weights of 15lb, 40lb and 60lb and can truly say that bar an odd liner, I honestly don’t think I’ve missed a true bite fishing all time at 16 metres
Kits and spares are little different from normal Pro or Pro X costs.
I had trouble initially re the difference in cost from the Pro X, Airity etc but for me, it came down to keeping top kits, part funding with the poles I sold and also the price I got mine for from my local shop which was not £3750!!!
Would I have spent £3000 plus from scratch for a pole if i wasn’t part funding with sales, probably not
Do I regret selling my Pro X, Pro and spending another grand or so buying thie Air – absolutely not.
Dependant on your circumstances only, if you can justify the Air, I can tell you that you will not regret it.

keep telling yourself theres nothing else as good and you will feel a lot better after spending that amount and you will eventually convince yourself 😀 .at the end of the day what one person thinks is the best for them doesnt mean it suits another person 😀 😀 😀
