Although the weather conditions were not ideal both bank and boat anglers enjoyed some good sport on Pitsford’s Opening Day. There were some very notable catches and a healthy rod average of over 4 on the day.
Judith Tuffs had 13 fish by lunchtime fishing from the bank at Duffers, with small black and green lures, she weighed in for over 18lb. Jonny Johnson had a Rainbow of 5lb 12oz with John Allen taking one of identical weight. Mr Woodward reported a Brown of over 4lb which was returned safely as they remain out of season. Two other Browns were also caught and returned.
The bank fished from most of the usual areas and boat anglers enjoyed the best sport around the margins and Causeway.Best bank areas Duffers, Stilton, Bog Bay.
Best boat areas Narrows, Stone Barn, Causeway.

Fish week 218 (season 314) Returns 63 (98) Rod average 3.4 (3.2)
The changeable weather conditions have continued to influence the fishing at Ravensthorpe. Mild weather early in the week saw some anglers do well, notably Messrs Flynn and Webb who had 26 fish to the boat on sunk line tactics. Others reported good sport on floating line and buzzers. However, the colder weather towards the end of the week slowed the fishing down with the fish reluctant to play. Bags of twos and threes have been taken with the fishing much harder. The quality of the catches has been good with several fish in the 4-6lb bracket. The best being to Mr A Morley at 6lb, taken on an orange lure while boat fishing near the Island.
Perhaps the most stunning catch reported this week was a Pike in excess of 30lb taken on fly tactics by Trevor Heseltine. The fish was returned safely.
