FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 28/4/13

Last week 122 rods caught 406 fish for an average of 3.33.

The fishing was a little harder than the previous week but generally all pools are still fishing reasonably well. Plenty of fish in the 3 – 5lb range are coming out with the odd bigger fish.

Terry Holder of Leicester caught the largest rainbow of the week at 7lb 6oz and it was taken on a black Buzzer whilst fishing from the bank of Cocks Close. Andrew Moulder of Dorridge fished from a boat on the Great Pool and caught seven fish with the largest at 6lb 8oz and these all fell to orange Lures fished on an intermediate line. Brian Healey of Coventry fished the bank of Cocks Close and caught six fish to 6lb on small olive Buzzers fished on a floating line. Dave Woollaston of Warwick also fished the bank of Cocks Close and caught a five fish limit including fish of 4lb 5oz and 4lb 4oz which all came to a Damsel Nymph.

The Hall Pool is fishing very well and probably the pick of the members’ pools at the moment, Mike Ravenscroft fished on there and caught five fish to over 5lb and these came to small Nymphs.

Top patterns at the moment are black or olive Buzzer, Gold Head Damsel, Diawl Bach, GRHE, Bloodworm, CDC Emerger and Cats Whisker. There are lots of fish moving late evening and small olives fished to moving fish is working well at the moment.

Best areas are the old boat jetty and high bank of Cocks Close, the middle island down the shallows on Great Pool, the far bank and dam wall of Hall Pool and the shallow water on the far side of Park Meadow.

The Fishery is hosting a ‘Fishing for Heroes’ event on the 1st June. Anglers wishing to support this cause will be asked to find sponsorship to the value of £70.00 and the winner of the day will be invited to fish a grand final at Dever Springs later in the year.

The fishery opens at 8am and closes at dusk (9pm at the moment).
