Thanks.

TF_wightanglerHi ,
i’ve been using the 4×10 and 4×12 lately on a venue where half the pegs suffer from a really strong prevailing gale force cross wind which funnels down a valley and makes the required soft pellet/meat fishing long to a central island and getting brief moments of decent presentation a nightmare!– So have to say they are remarkably stable as Joe states in his magazine review for such conditions and the reason why i bought them ( a good mate normally makes all my commie type floats)
My only ‘down’ is the actual body size – obviously wire stems require a body 1 size approx. larger to compensate for the extra wire weight. The wire itself that Joe describes as ‘carbon wire’ is indeed a lot stronger than the wire normally found on floats.
Although, unsurprisingly- after several 6lb ers trying to get into the marginal reeds in front and large bush on the immediate right of my peg – I noticed by the end that the wire had bent a little out of shape.
After some careful tweaking its deffo fishable again. The 1.75 hollow tip works well – as in calmer conditions you can fish big 6mm soft pellet and corn just off the deck instead of just touching. A lot of my commie floats already have 1.50 -1.75 tips anyway as i think you can dot them and you can still see them in a ripple(meaning for carp – not silvers, obviously).
That float got me bites that my ‘normal’ glass stem and carbon range would not have – indeed a good few have previously been tried.there. That in itself justifies the outlay, imo.
So i’ll deffo be getting some more – as it’s stability equaled bites and i prefer slim body shapes for lifting/dropping generally – & when its possible on that particular peg in question.

TF_AnthonywatersParticipantSorry I havent responded sooner I been on my jollies, Loda plenty of pics on Malmans website Im tired of posting pics lol. Wightangler thanks for the indepth detailed account, Ive been making this pattern float myself for a while mainly due to there not been one readily available on the float market and yes you do have to offset the wire weight against your body size Ive found the ones I made a 0.5 closed cell foam take 10 x no 11 stotz – so 0.3grm that suits my fishing Malmans more advanced at float making though and his floats have to be good. – have you used your Double dippers yet ? Ive not had much success mysel but I heard they accounted for first and second at Woodlands yesterday.
